Can anyone speak to the difficulty of Russian classes at Cornell? I'll be taking bio, math, chem, fws, and gym....would it be ok to add a Russian class, or just way too much? Thanks!

Which class are you talking about? Introductory?

I second this question, since I'm trying to decide on an introductory language. Could anyone tell me about introductory Russian, Italian, or Chinese? (I am not a native speaker of any of those languages.)

Introductory classes are generally harder than their follow-ups since you have to start learning from scratch. From what I know introductory Chinese is very time consuming and hard to master, and Italian and Russian courses are much more laid back.

I was thinking of taking the placement test during orientation to figure out which class to take...I took 3 years of high school and 2 years of college Russian, but I don't think the credits will transfer. Would I be better off to start again in an introductory class? Would a 200-level class be very time consuming/difficult?

Thanks!

If you took 3 years in HS and 2 years in college I doubt an introductory class would teach you anything. Intro. classes are a lot more time consuming than the "higher-up" classes. Depending on how well you can read and write you should take a Russian Lit class or try taking a Conversational class. I'm not sure if they have these in Russian because I'm just going on what they have for Italiano.
