Has anyone accepted to SoE NB heard anything on Honors or scholarships?
No one is going to hear anything until January 18th
Was accepted to the New Brunswick campus yesterday for the Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering majors.
1580 new SAT and I am an American student doing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in a foreign country. Still don’t know if I’ll qualify for in-state tuition if I decide to commit.
Nothing yet! I’ve heard that notifications will go out on the 18th. Right now, I’m taking information that with a grain of salt because I haven’t received any official information.
@Bytezz and everyone accepted into the School of Engineering: you’re actually not accepted into a particular major, but into SOE in general. You’ll spend your first semester taking a 1 credit “seminar” class that provides an overview of all the different SOE majors. In April of your Freshman year, there’s a “recruiting” process, similar to that of a Greek rush process, where you select your specific major. It’s actually kind of cool the way they do it.
They haven’t changed this since I attended RU in the 80’s.
The good aspect is that you get a broad overview of everything that the School offers and there are no capacity limits to the majors … so, if you decide you want MechE, that’s what you get. The only downside there are no “major” specific classes your Freshman year, unlike NJIT, UDel, and Rowan, where you’d be actually taking MechE classes your freshman year. Also, SOE does not have the emphasis on design courses like Rowan and NJIT does, which are great if you want you to get hands on in your major right away.
There are always trade-offs. You have to decide what’s most important. Of course, I happen to think that Rutgers engineers are awesome and that IE is the best engineering major, but I’m probably slightly biased. Just saying.
@mtown27 Thanks for this information! Really insightful. I think the system you described is great because I can take that time to figure out if I truly want to go into aerospace. I’ve had my eyes set on AE for years, but who knows. A lot can change in a year.
Have they sent out not admitted to any students yet?
I was jw how ppl know we won’t hear until 18th. Is that when they will start posting decisions again?
That’s for scholarships and financial aid
Daughter’s status didn’t change but the date it lists as credentials reviewed did… Went from 12/6 to 1/13. Anyone know what that means?
@MomAdvisor3 I’m no expert, so please take my evaluation lightly. I’m guessing that date changed because they reviewed your daughter’s application for a second time?
Mine also went from sometime in October to January 13th. I have a low GPA with a 1360/1600 SAT score. Am I going to get rejected?
Anyone thats anxious about knowing scholarships for new brunswick, when I called up, the person at campus info services told me they would be sent on the 18th.
@Zarif981 There’s no way of knowing now. I suggest you just relax because the application is with them and it’s nearly impossible to change any outcomes. All you must do is hope they will make the right decision for you.
Good luck! I have my fingers crossed for you.
@ro2400 Looks like the 18th has been corroborated multiple times now. Good luck to everyone!

@ro2400 Do you know where the scholarship info will be posted? I’m not sure if it is coming through the mail or will be posted on the portal
