@Njmom224 Happy for your son. These posts are getting confusing. Congrats to all accepted, and sorry for the denials some have received. The college process is a crazy roller coaster ride. Whatever college you can start off in, you can transfer to another at a later time. Please stay positive. Another door will open.
@Run4life99 . Thanks. I probably created the confusion as I jumped on Hashanh pretty hard about the Ivy comment. I have been sharing information for the last 6 weeks or so on this thread and I know how anxious some students have been! Is your son going to accept the honors program at SAS. Mine is debating between that and Pharmacy. Leaning SAS today, but it is still open.
@Njmom224. It is easier to transfer to SAS from Pharmacy, but not from SAS to Pharmacy. Pharm D provides decent paying jobs with 2 extra years compared to Premed grads at SAS. Honors or not is not as important as marketability to me.
Thanks @Kenchan24. He is not sure that he wants to be a pharmacist. He wants to do medical or pharmaceutical research. Applied to SAS partially because they are one of the a few schools in the general area with a genetics major.
@Njmom224 More info should be coming out about the honors program soon. I think the students and parents will be invited to an info session. Right now he will accept. There are a few perks with the faculty that may help him down the road with his current Major which is Evolutionary Anthropology. He only applied to SAS so he has no other choices. Good luck! Maybe the open house will help your son decide also.
sorry to everyone who got denied, its probably for the best, you will always find out where you belong even if it takes a couple years to figure it out
@Run4life99 I am off to google Evolutionary Anthropology! We are about 80 mins away, so we plan to re-visit and attend sessions for both schools and do what on-line research he can. I think my son’s decision will be driven by what he thinks he wants to study, but if he picks Genetics he will definitely do the honors. I agree about some perks. Good Luck to your son.
@Njmom224 We are a little less than an hour south. The traffic can be a nightmare. I will start to experiment with non highway alternatives. My son wants to come home on the weekends. I wonder how long that will last. About my sons major, he just wants to dig in the dirt!
Accepted to SAS-NB!! OOS, 3.6 UW GPA, 1090 SAT
Just found this board. My son submitted his application on October 30 and was accepted into SAS and SEBS on November 14. I found it odd he heard so soon, but even more so given so many waited so long. He did receive an invitation to the Honors College for both. I’ll have to research the Honors College - past experience suggests Honors programs aren’t drastically different - would be interested in thoughts.
His stats for those interested: SAT 1350, GPA 4.26
@NewHokieMom Congrats to your son! What campus did he get into? New Brunswick is the one that is taking so long.
@Run4life99 - It is New Brunswick. Honestly, I was baffled by the quick accept. Same thing happened for him at Penn State - he submitted his application just before midnight on the due date and he heard back same week as Rutgers. I don’t get the processes at these schools. It was a relief for us to at least know he will be attending college! And I feel really bad for everyone still waiting.
His first choice is Maryland, and they’ve released nothing - they release everyone on the same day, no rolling acceptances. So pins and needles between now and February 1.
@nyr62 and @NewHokieMom congratulations! @run4life99, I read about it - very interesting. So he wants to dig in the dirt in far away places, but for College wants to come home every weekend! I bet he gradually stops coming. We are South as well. We live In Gloucester County, but my son goes to school in the Cherry Hill area.
@Njmom224 Kids can be baffling at times! We’re in Jackson. So you know about traffic issues as well. The whole state feels like gridlock sometimes.
Does anybody have any insight on which school would be better for a bio-medical tract, SAS or SEBS?
@NewHokieMom Good luck! Hope your son gets what he wants. The wait is almost over, but not soon enough!
do i still even have a good chance for SEBS after being waitlisted from SAS yesterday ? It still says in process for sebs, stats are 1810 sat, 3.23 cum. gpa (discluding 3.59 first semester senior year) and in state
Does anyone know when scholarship info will be posted?
There was an update this pm. Scholarships will not be today. They are still waiting on the financial aid group to finish as they want to release the information together this year. Sometime next week was the new ETA.

“The Office of Financial Aid is expecting about mid-week next week, but I would say by the end of the week next week to be safe.”
