Rutgers Civil Engineering

Hi guys,
I might be attending to Rutgers in the school year of 2012-2013 for civil engineering and I wanted to know what it's like.

I am doubting myself on taking civil engineering right now though b/c I have a 74ish in APCalcAB... The subject matter isn't too hard to understand, but its just that I choke on the tests that my teacher gives out. I hear that high school and college Calc is different, but I'm still worried.

Right now the only reason why I want to take Civil engineering is because I want to make it as a great architect and get the skeleton of the buildings down first before I engulf it with the designs, which people already think I have the potential for. But my dad tells me its easier getting a step ahead of everyone in (really competitive) field by going 4 years for civil, take my PE exam, and then go into a master's program.

Should this stop me in taking Civil Engineering?

Bummmmmmmmp.

You will have to take at least 4 semesters of calculus. As long as you are willing to study hard you can do it. Calc 1 and 2 are usually the hardest for people then it gets easier. Once you are working you will most likely use very little calculus. Do you know you have to work as a civil engineer for 4 years to take the PE? Have you ever considered an architectural engineering program? Civil will give you much better job prospects and architecture.

Well I knew that you have to take your FE Exams around your 4th year at an university and the PE after 4, which I was planning on b/c I wanted to soak as much civil experience.

With Calc 1 and 2 I hear the hard thing about it was learning the concepts of all the crap, but I already know the concepts, it’s just that I always had a problem with speed because I tend to over think a lot of things…

With all this said, I’m implying that you might be a t Rutgers dept. already? So anyways how fast does Barr fill up usually?
