Thank you!I hope youāll get in!
I need advise from people on this forum. My son(NJ state) a premed major just received acceptance from Stony Brook with Provostial scholarship which offers 4 years free tuition for out of state student. He was also accepted to Rutgers New Brunswick but with no money. The cost of attending Stony Brook is around $15k for room and board versus $30k (tuition+room+board) for Rutgers. Tuition is not an issues but if Stony Brook and Rutgers are similar rated/ranked then attending Stony Brook has the added benefit of $15k savings. So my questions is is Stony Brook and Rutgers rated similarly?.
@futuredocml We are in Ny. My son also received free tuition for SB. He did get a very good scholarship for Rutgers bringing it close to NYS prices. He is computer science. We visited SB for open house this past weekend & he ruled it out. Im not sure how high Rutgers is on the list because of the busing & the size of the school. As far as being rated, Iām not familiar with Rutgers as a premed program, but it is a big research school so Iām surest is good. Stony Brook big draw is the premed program & engining & CS programs. If in the honors or scholars program even better. The other down fall with SB is it does have a large computer population. People do stay on campus but about 1/2 is a commuter. We live 40nminutes away so that is also partly why my son isnāt as int in them. Go & visit if possible. We ar going to Rutgers open house his weekend as he is down to 2 schools now.
