MushaboomBlue: I am a quiet (near-antisocial) guy who has extreme interests in both Electrical Engineering (Railroad Tech) and Music. Therefore, I sought college as a way to start over from my previous high school life with people that I don’t know and perhaps start a band with my taste of music. I’m not sure if attending Rutgers or going out of state would solve that problem.

Hi PWireBrake: Are you thinking about minoring in music? Maybe you should think about joining the Musicians Guild here at Rutgers. It’s a club here that allows musicians (you don’t have to be a Mason Gross student) to come together and perform. It will give you an opportunity to meet other people with similar music interest.

I answered your question about housing on Busch or College Avenue on a previous thread just now, but I’d like to add to that. Have you thought about Special Interest Housing? On College Avenue there is a dorm, Demarest Hall, that has sections catered to specific interests like Gender and Sexuality Studies, Creative Writing, Performing Arts, and even Music Appreciation!

Maybe you might want to check that out (especially if you are “open minded”). It’s a smaller community so you will get to know people there better.

I can understand if you want to stay in-state. I’m not very social either and refused to go to a school that wasn’t in Jersey or New York. It is very understandable.

Thanks MushaboomBlue! I actually wrote about Musicians Guild in my app essay, but I’m not interested in minoring in music. As for staying in-state, I’m inclining on doing this so my mom won’t have to cry if something happens to me out of state esp. in Buffalo.
