I’ve been accepted into Computer Engineering by both schools, but I don’t know which school I should attend. If I went to Georgia Tech, I would be getting a better education but I would be paying the full price compared to Rutgers where I would probably pay around 10k a year. Please help, thank you!
OK I am not sure what GT cost OOS but less call it 50K so RU would save you or your parents 40K a year, so your looking at $160,000 over 4 years, You would not be getting a better education by going to GT, you would be going to a higher ranked school, not a better education. Rutgers is a very good school and honestly the further you get from NJ the better the reputation it has, so to answer your question there is no way GT is 5 times better a school vs Rutgers. Especially if you plan on grad school. IS GT a nicer campus, yes, better football, yes, better weather yes, better education , no, better investment of your parents college dollars , no way.
@spicyboy - Here is the comparison between RU-NB and GT on US News. If your parents can offer $50K a year for GT then go for it. Otherwise, RU is a good enough school for Computer Engineering with in state tuition+fees+room & board around $30K a year. Good luck! https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/compare/1569-6964/georgia-institute-of-technology-vs-rutgers-new-brunswick?xwalk_id=139755&xwalk_id=186380
RU is definitely a solid option not only for your major, but campus life and other programs that you are interested in personally- whether that is social, hobbies, sports, etc. Great school, lot of great people. You also cannot beat the tuition, especially in-state!
