Hello!
I am an incoming freshman at Rutgers Business school New Brunswick. I have a strong interest for business and see myself doing an MBA in the future. I am currently trying to decide what major would be best for me to do my undergrad in.
- Finance and Economics
- Finance and Marketing (minor in economics)
- Finance and Economics (minor in sales)
- Or some other combination of finance, economics, or maybe Business analytics/ IT.
I wanted to know what would give the best job/internships prospects and what companies would be interested in given a student’s specialization.
I will definitely study finance but am trying to decide what I should do alongside. I have a natural inclination for marketing and various aspects in that field (fashion, pop culture, social media, market research, consumer behavior/psychology, etc.); however, I am not sure if it is something I should pursue or I should stick with hardcore finance / Econ subjects.
In a perfect world I would be working someplace where I can use my creativity and interpersonal skills, places like Conde Naste, or luxury companies like LoReal, etc. which is why I thought of marketing
I also wanted to know of it is possible to work for such companies it’s as a strict finance / Econ major.
I know that I will be pursuing an MBA in the future 99% in finance, so my Undergrad does not matter much, especially in business where it’s really my skills that must strike out. I just wanted to get some more perspectives on what will help me put my best foot forward in the job market!
Thanks!
