Rutgers is definitely better known and a has a longer history in the field. Rowan has made great strides and has great new facilities. Rowan is a more walkable campus, where Rutgers most likely will require taking busses to/from classes.
Have you visited both?
I’ve visited Rowan and most of Rutgers. I can see myself on both campuses. @NJWrestlingmom
Are they really the same cost for you - no scholarships at either? No honors college at either?
I am graduating high school with over a year’s worth of college credits that will transfer to both universities. Rowan’s yearly tuition is cheaper than Rutgers but with the way Rowan’s CS program is set up, it will take me 3.5 to 4 years to graduate. Rutger’s curriculum will take me 3 years to graduate. Therefore, they will end up being around the same cost. @MYOS1634 I actually don’t remember if I have been accepted to the honors colleges or not but it’s not important to me either way because I don’t want to retake my gen eds.
You wouldn’t retake gen eds but you’d have access to special classes in your major and most importantly priority registration. If your AP credits allow you to register with juniors you’re good either way. (There are other perks, such as housing and special opportunities).
If costs are similar then it’s probably best for you to pick Rutgers.
I’ll look into it. Thanks @MYOS1634
Seconding Rutgers for all of the posts above. Congrats!
