I got into Rutgers Newark, still waiting to hear back from NB. I never thought I would get admited. I wanted to know if I’ll be able to get student loans to pay for tuition, because I can’t pay for it and I’m basically on my own.
You will be able to get $5500 as a freshmen, $6500 as a sophomore, $7500 as a junior and senior. Per year.
You live with your Mom within commuting distance to Rowan, right? Did you apply there? Have you found out if your mom has been in NJ long enough to make you eligible for in state rates?
Since you’re a transfer, you should have a pretty good idea what kind of federal aid you’ll get by filing the FAFSA. If you got $10k/year your first 2 years of college it sounds like you got some Pell on top of the ~$5500/year federal student loan. I think that and a summer job would cover tuition if you commute.
You can’t take more than the $7500/year federal student loan for juniors and seniors. If your mom’s income makes you eligible for a Pell grant, she can’t/shouldn’t take any loans for you. Did you get accepted anywhere that you can afford with the aid you have?
My mom moved here in september, so I don’t know. I did not apply anywhere else and I am eligible for a pell grant. Still, I don’t think I can afford to go to any school and I’m not even considering Comunity college, cause I already have an Associates degree.
