Rutgers- OOS Residency

I DO NOT WANT TO pay rutgers' OOS tuition :c my poor parents!

This is my situation:

Parents and I live in NY, and i don't tink they want to move to NJ just for me (so nj residency is out of the question)
I'll be living in a cheap studio w. a roomate near rutgers (since i'm living instate) what steps can i take to pay instate rutgers fee?

---->from reading several posts, it seems that i have to wait one year to not pay the OOS tuition and pay the instate tuition. where do i start?

Yea, I’m pretty sure you’d have to live in NJ for a year in order to be considered in state. It looks like you’d have to pay the OOS tuition for the first year and then after living here for a year you’d be able to pay the in state.

Mmmm doing that is hard. I have a friend who moved here from North Carolina. Because her parents still reside there, she had such a hard time getting residency that the tuition got to be too much for her and she dropped out.

an out of state person. wow i didnt even know people came to rutgers from other states. i just figured most of that 10% out of state was international.

if rutgers ever wants to become a legit popular school like Penn St., UMD, UDEL they gotta attract more out of staters. that and getting a good football and basketball team…although Schiano is building a good program now.
