Rutgers Undergrad music program?

Is anyone familiar with the Rutgers music undergraduate program? What are the typical class sizes for a class in Aural Skills, Classroom Piano, Theory I. 30 students per class? 20?

How is the program in general? Weak , Strong. Why?

From my experience throughout high school and taking one course in a county college in music, the classes always seemed so tiny. And always, the chairs rock hard and uncomfortable.

My husband graduated from Rutgers a while back, but the music scene at Rutgers was and is still awesome. He was taught under renowned composers and mingled with the guys at Mason Gross. Musicians stay up all night playing and writing. It was really quite a wonderful experience for a musician. He worked at Sam Ash Music at the time as well. Moved on to a very good career through audio and video sales, etc.

My friend’s son is now applying to Mason Gross and also Music at SAS, and they confirm it is still the same. It is a very strong program with a ton of “vibe.” My friend’s son is gifted in jazz guitar and he belongs to NJPACs (NJ performing arts something…). He plays with long-time professionals, even as a teen. His two favorite schools are Manhattan College of Music (right name?) and Rutgers Mason Gross. He has already been accepted to SAS Music program. Again…you will be with the Mason Gross musicians in class if you go that route. Classes are not huge except pre-reqs and definitely not tiny. Cannot comment on the chairs.
