Oh, then you have to do it.

Iā€™m in state, applied early action but did not submit test scores. I was deferred but it seems like people who applied way after have already heard back. Has anyone not submitted test scores and updated SRAR and still deferred?

I applied regular decision, but only heard back after I updated my SRAR with my senior grades, and with my Algebra 1 I took in 8th grade. I saw on the website that it is a requirement for admission, so remember to put ALL of the needed courses.

The link to check whether you are in honors college or honors program is working now.

My daughter was just accepted to the honors program. We are very excited but she was really hoping for honors college. Does anyone know that if the students accepted to honors college do not choose to go to Rutgers, does that open up additional Honors College spots? If so, are honors program students ever ā€œmoved upā€ to honors college?

The result is the same as the one before they shut down access to the page.

Hey all, I received my acceptance from Rutgers earlier this week and was wondering if anybody had any insight into student life, environment, weather, etc. and the like. I have extensively researched the academic side of Rutgers and it is at the top of my list, but as I am out of state my parents donā€™t want me to commit to enroll until we have visited, which is hard with COVID-19. Any insight or opinion is appreciated!

I am in state and love Jersey! You will get all four seasons but winters can be pretty cold/snowy especially if you arent used to it. Iā€™ve visited the campus many times and loved it (it is spread out which some people donā€™t like). It is about an hour from both NYC and the Jersey Shore; two places people love to see when visiting from out of state. As for student life I know that greek life is pretty popular but definitely is not something you have to participate in. Also its a very diverse campus with lots of different people!

A student can only be invited to the Honors College as a freshman (which is one of the things that makes it different from the program - the program has more flexibility.) The invitations to the HC vs. the Programs are made by different departments that also consider completely different variables when choosing the students to receive invitations. The Honors Programs are managed by the schools themselves. The Honors College is managed by the university - and itā€™s meant to represent a cross section of the universityā€™s strongest students and itā€™s a much smaller group. And they donā€™t just take the top tier students that apply - otherwise the HC would be heavily weighted toward particular majors that tend to attract an overall stronger applicant (think the most competitive schools/majors.) Itā€™s a little more complicated in that they are trying to bring together a cross section that can then meet the interdisciplinary requirements of the HC. Thatā€™s why a student can be invited to HC for one major, but not another. So to answer your question, since the two programs are completely independent of each other, one doesnā€™t have any bearing on the other. I hope this is helpful.

How much merit does the honors college give?

Do anyone know if they release all honors decisions at once or in waves?

Varies by student and school. Our DS was offered HC for two of her majors/schools and the merit amount attached to each was different. I believe that the HC is the program that guarantees some sort of merit, but youā€™d need to double check that.

can some who saw honors last week check now and let us know if they still see it? I tried to see for my son and we dont see it (i didnt check earlier. Checked only today)

I can see the results for our DS. Iā€™m not sure if it ever went away (I read the link was shut down as maybe applicants were checking it prematurely but I never checked again before just now) but the link is active this morning for him.

We checked 2 weeks ago when it was inadvertently opened before it was shut down. We saw the invite then but received no email. We got the email yesterday and checked again and the same invite was there.

When would Rutgers announce Financial Aid/Award details and Honors college decision?

My daughter received Honors College notification this week. We still have not heard about financial aid/awards yet. Hoping that is soon.

ok. did your daughter get an email notification or update on the portal?

Yes, she received an email I believe it was Wednesday or Thursday afternoon.
