Rutgers University Class of 2025 Discussion Thread

In state
4.33 wGPA
TO
Applied in early Oct, accepted in mid-Dec to EMSOP
Honors College
$13K merit scholarship

Did anyone else get an email about the SASHP event? It’s during school hours on a Friday

The year our DD received the offer, I vaguely remember the HC merit offers ranging between $5k - $16k but I can’t recall if there was a guaranteed minimum. Our DD received different merit offers depending on which school she chose (she was offered HC for both her majors)

However
I don’t know if those merit offers we heard about were actually attached to the HC invitation? Or if they were other merit offers that just happen to go to HC students but were granted for other reasons.

Did you look at FAQ of Honors College vs. Honors Programs? I thought they addressed the merit question there.

1430 sat, 97.72 w gpa, decent ECs.
Accepted RBS/SAS Early Action, Honors Program for both
8k in merit
Got a 1560 after I sent in my app and I sent that score in. Not sure whether any merit/honors decisions were made based off of that score or the initial one.

Did you have a hook?

Does anybody know how much u pay in total for in state for SAS?

First child and first time ever to experience the college admissions process. He’s Asian and I don’t know if that’s a hook.

Actually bring Asian is thought to make it harder (at least according to my daughter’s male Asian friends at Rutgers). Congrats!

Around 36k, assuming you live on campus.

Same here - nothing and we are far below as well.

For school day accepted student events, your school will probably excuse you. My son went to the honors college and engineering honors program events a couple of years ago and he just had to hand in proof. They were fun! SAS has a lot to offer.

I don’t think there’s a cap on HC merit? I know a few people including myself that got significantly more than that, but as a lot of you are saying, there really isn’t much of a pattern with HC merit offers. I hope everyone gets something that they can afford!

If my twins end up at Rutgers, and we have a daughter at UD, we will be paying over $100,000 for the year. Glad our kids stuck with public universities to make it affordable!

I didnt get into the Honors College and didnt get any aid. I applied with a 3.79 wGPA (Junior: 4.33 wGPA) and 1530 SAT, got in Mid-December, and ig its based on that. But this year I have a 4.85wGPA and did a few internships. Is there a way I can appeal for more merit based aid or for honors college admission?

Was wondering the same, is there an appeals process for the Honors College?

I think colleges rely more on unweighted gpa due to grade inflation at different schools, and all 4 years count.

There is no appeals process for the honors college. However, if you didn’t get into the honors program, you could appeal that.

Has anyone received any decisions lately? Any deferred applicants?

My D just got admitted to RBS NB. She was admitted to SAS NB on 2/11/2021.
