So i got into Rutgers and The University of Michigan (Ann-Arbor) and i was wondering if anyone had any opinions on which to consider. Being from New Jersey, Rutgers is obviously the easier choice being close to home and paying in-state tuition, but Michigan is also a great school. My plan is to go to medical school after my undergraduate education so any school better over the other?

I know UMichigan has a better reputation, but I also know a lot of people that got into very good graduate programs coming out of Rutgers.

If money is a consideration, I would definitely choose Rutgers. It is about half of what UMich will cost you and if you have good stats (which I assume because you got into Michigan) you might get Merit aid to make it even cheaper. Use the money you save for the best medical school you can get into.

But of course the final choice is yours.

the cheaper school is the better school if you want to go into medicine.

Rutgers sciences are plenty good. UM offers a better campus and overall environment. How much is over $20,000/year worth to you and your parents?
