Rutgers vs University of Delaware

I am a current Rutgers student at the Newark campus and wanted to transfer to New Brunswick but was denied admission. I received admission to University of Delaware and i am debating my options.
If I were to attend:
University of Delaware- Hotel Management/Restaurant/Inst. Management
Rutgers- Finance & Management

My current GPA at Rutgers is 3.04 which New Brunswick did not accept. I appealed the decision and was told eventhough I met the requirements, the GPA was not competitive enough. I had several extra curricular activities including:
Asia club-treasurer
Accounting society
and currently working at a Sheraton property 30hrs a week
As an internal transfer, they only look at ur GPA and their decision is soley based off the GPA.

I would like to see myself going to Rutgers NB but it is not looking too good. I was told that admissions for internal transfer is harder than from another university.

My choices are to remain at Rutgers for another semester and reapply to New Brunswick or go to UDEL and possibly apply back to rutgers new brunswick. If I like it at Udel I will most likely stay to save myself the hassle of losing credits.

Also the reason for transferring is because of the newark city. I would like to go to a different environment.

I think that UDel is a much better option than Rutgers, when talking about the Newark campus, for most students academically. But since you know the Newark campus, I think you're more qualified to make that decision. I would say Rutgers NB and UDel are pretty equal.

Delaware for an authentic college experience.

If you can afford Delaware and really want to study hotel management, it sounds like a good move.

Delaware has a much nicer campus, etc. IMO, if that matter to you.

^ while Delaware is a much better campus and has a better college campus/experience...the much better school overall is Rutgers.

I dont know what year you are but on-campus recruiting is coming up and i see that your major is finance...Rutgers places MUCH MUCH better than Udel. Like i said in another forum, i go to NYU Stern and I know quite a bit about RU (im from jersey) and I have interned on Wall St and saw plenty of RU kids....granted they are close to NYC which provides plenty of opportunities within itself...but i have yet to meet a student from UDel.....think long and hard before you make you make a decision...

It really depends on if you're planning on grad school.

If you plan to go to grad school, prestige of your undergraduate institution means little. In this case, I'd choose Delaware for the campus life. On the other hand, if you're only interested in getting an undergrad degree, Rutgers might be a slightly better choice.
