I am currently a rutgers newark sutdent and would like to transfer. I applied to rutgers new brunswick and university of delaware for the spring. Rutgers denied my application. Udel accepted my application. I really wanted to go to new brunswick over Delaware because its close to the city where I currently work. But since i was dnied I was thinking about going to UDEL and possibly transferring back to Rutgers new brunswick in the Fall if I dot like it at UDEL.

My current GPA is 3.04. As an internal transfer they solely look at ur GPA and nothing else. A regular application looks at everything. I really want to get out of rutgers newark because of the area its situated at. If my goal was to get into new brunswick what would be the best decision for me to be admitted?

Well, it really comes down to just four choices:

(1) Stay at Rutgers Newark and hope the high crime doesn't affect you personally until you can get the GPA up and transfer to Rutgers New Brunswick
(2) Change jobs and go to Delaware with the plan to transfer back later
(3) Try to get into a local college like TCNJ or Montclair or Saint Bonaventure or St. John's with the plan to finish at one of them or transfer back to Rutgers New Brunswick; or
(4) Just apply somewhere else outside of the New York/New Jersey area that you think you might be happier at, or where it would be easier to improve the GPA if you still wanted to transfer to New Brunswick.

Since you would have to quit your job anyway, (4) is an option if you can find a place like Univ of Delaware. Some schools that might be candidates are:
James Madison
Univ of Arizona
Temple
or Oregon
(the point being, don't limit yourself)

Nobody on the site can make the choice for you--only you know what you want to do. Personally, between Delaware or staying in Newark, I'd take the University of Delaware (It's in a nice area just a ways south of Wilmington).

Last time I was in Newark, I saw a car chase with shots fired take place right in front of me (only time that's ever happened). I've meticulously avoided ever going through Newark again except on the turnpike or at the airport.

Good luck.

haha thats crazy! yea i knew newark nj was crazy but thats just insane.

Anyway i transferred to UDel with the plan of transferring back to new brunswick. Im in contact with Rutgers but they are saying they will not include my grades this semester into consideration. Um? if they are not considering my grades this semester they are pretty much basing it off of my high school and my Rutgers GPA of 3.04. What are the chances of me getting into Rutgers NB if I got denied last semester for having the same exact grades? They say there might be a possibility because i am not doing internal transfers(which is said to be harder). I also applied to the business program which is said to be harder.
At UD im getting straight As as of now but i am only taking 12 credits. Any advice for the struggling student trying to get into new brunswick? or anything i should do to increase my chances of getting in?
