it also depends on the program you applied for. Looking Drexel’s website, their middle 50% of accepted freshmen scored 1635-1950 on their SATs, and expect that number to be higher for their nursing program.

ohh. so is there a chance i might get into the nursing program?

yonkersmallu27:
you have 0% chance of getting into any nursing program in the United States due to your low SAT scores and GPA.
You could probably get into a low-ranked university(william patterson) but not their nursing program.

Based on the other posts I read from you, I believe you live in NJ and are planning on going to Bergen community college. As a fellow NJ resident who goes to Brookdale Community College, I feel the need to give you some advice.

1) Go to a community college in New Jersey, if Bergen is closest from to where you live then go there. You only need a high school diploma in order to get in.
2) Look up the prerequisites you need in order to transfer into the nursing program at the school of your choice. If your top choice is Rutgers then go to their nursing school website and look up the course prerequisites in order to transfer there. I believe you can only transfer into the fall semester but I am not quite sure. Each school have slightly different requirements so you might need to spend 1 or 2 extra semesters. I believe that you can be a registered nurse(RN) first and then continue to get your BSN or Masters at the nursing school of your choice.
3)Maintain a good GPA. Keep it as high as possible. Transferring into the nursing program is pretty competitive and there are not lots of spots.
4)I can NOT stress this enough but make sure you check the classes you need in order to transfer and maintain a high GPA.

good luck.

How’s community college embarrassing? It’s the best place to help people with low grades in high school and save a ton money too !

well you are all right
i got rejected from rutgers:(
but william paterson put me on hold for their nursing prgram

Interesting…I only got a 1620 on my SAT’s and got in, but that’s probably because my GPA was a 3.7

ohh so now i have a 3.1642 gpa but I guess that doesnt matter becasue i was already rejected right?

yonkers you are getting good advice here; people are being honest.

My mother went to cc for her 2 year nursing degree when she was older and later went part time for her bachelors degree so she could be a supervisor. There are always jobs for nurses when you get out of any nursing program so don’t worry so much about where you are going, just get in.

oh yeah you all are right I got rejected from drexel also, but that was just random

I will go to Bergen Community only if I don’t get into any school. How about Montclair Sate University?would I get in?i Have a 3.1642 gpa now my class rank is now 88 out of 155 but my sat score is still 1200/2400. IS there a chance?because then I will get into The Nutrition and Food Science program for Dietitian or Nutritionist

trust me montclair state will take you without a doubt. they are equivalent to a CC.

and lol @ the honest comments in this thread

yeah, but I havent done the essay yet uhhh

My friend’s kids all wanted to go to nursing school. None of them had the stats to get into any nursing programs directly but all are now in programs and/or are nurses by going the community college route, doing very well and transferring to a nursing program. At the end of their college years, they are nurses like anyone who went directly to a nursing school. One has her masters in nursing and is commanding a top salary. So where you go is not going to hurt your employment chances. The advice you are getting regarding Bergen CC is good and would be a route that can get you into a nursing program.

so my gpa is now 3.1642 but i guess that wouldnt matter now because I got rejected/

Yonkers, Why don’t you go to to Community College, and get your GPA high, You will get into any school that you want, plus it saves you a tons of money.

yeah I am going to Bergen Community College for a semester or a year at the most if I need it -_-

Good decision yonkers. Spend at least 2 years and then you will be set.

Hi, so I go to Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes New Jersey. I have a solid extracuricular activities:
And my high school is top 25 in New Jersey’s best public high schools so it was very difficult for me to stay on high GPA. MY GPA is 3.5 (unweighted) and 4.4 (weighted). My SAT is the problem… i have 1580/2400 but going to take one more on October test. But with my stats right now with my activities, my GPA and my current SAT score, do i have a chance to getting into Rutgers University Early action? thanks !

While this topic is revived, I too would like to know my chances. I’m applying to the Newark campus at their Business School or SAS.

My GPA currently stands at a 2.89 while my SAT score stands at 1960. I’m going to retake it tomorrow in hopes of improving my overall score.

I haven’t participated in too many EC’s, only a year of Winter and Spring Track and a few clubs. Took 2 APs and 2 Honors courses.

I know my GPA is terrible and was the inevitable result of not taking my academics as seriously as I should have. I do plan on applying early, does anyone possess any input on how that would enhance my chances? Also, does Rutgers take first quarter senior grades into consideration?
