S&T and IB from a non-target

So i’ve been reading a lot of threads on this forum about how important it is to go to a target school for a front office job in finance, but what if you aren’t at an Ivy or a target? I read on a thread not to even bother with finance if you’re not at an ivy or top school? is this true? The school in particular that I’m looking at is Fordham University. How difficult would it be to land a gig in S&T? Maybe this isn’t the right thread for a particular college but would any body know how job placement for S&T is at Fordham University Gabelli? Any other info on S&T would be appreciated, thanks.

I do not know for sure. But I do know my D1, a trader at a top IB, seems to work with people from targets, like herself. She says that there are grads from other schools, but they seem to be the minority. She does not know how they are where they are. She says there is not a lot of concern about where you graduated from and, obviously, more concern about your performance. Schools come up because of athletic competition( Ivy League) and net working.
