Sac State Biology

I just got accepted to Sacramento State a couple of weeks ago, and visited campus with a friend of a friend that goes there and so far I LOVE it! Not too big and not too small and growing up in the bay area it’s nice to be in somewhat of a new atmosphere.

I am hoping to concentrate in Cell and Molecular Biology and would love to get some insight from someone that is in Sac State’s biology program. How helpful are they in finding you internships? I am hoping to pursue something in the medical field or perhaps in the field of biotech research. Also, how are the classes and professors? I heard that it was difficult to get classes, but I will be done with most of my lower division classes in my community college (with the exception of organic chemistry) so I am assuming getting upper division classes will be a bit easier?

Thank you in advance for anyone who could help!

I graduated from Sac State back in the dark ages but, still live in the area and a couple of my son’s friends are current Hornets. They won’t find a job for you but, there are career fairs, etc. There quite a few food/agriculture related bio-tech companies in the region. Their new president has a huge focus on improving the school’s graduation rate. Now that they are impacted and state $$$ is flowing again, you shouldn’t have much trouble getting classes - you will have to be flexible on your hours and instructors.

Go Hornets!

@NCalRent thank you that helps so much!

Stingers up!
