Sacramento Internships

I think this may be a shot in the dark, but here goes. :)

Currently I am a PR major with a double minor in history/environmental science. For a long time I have been interested in government and politics, especially on the communication end.

As a result of my interest I have interned with my US Congressperson, I am the current president of the Democrat Club here on campus and have worked with a couple campaigns and non-profits.

I was wondering if you guys know of any communication-related internship in the Sacramento, CA area. It doesn't have to necessarily be in the political field, I am interested in all forms of communication. Another field I am interested in is promoting green technologies, especially when it comes to alternative fuels.

I am afraid I have hit a glass ceiling. While several people have remarked that I have a resume most college grads would want to have; yet almost every internship that I think I am qualified for needs either junior standing or a BA. I am a sophomore.

Any and all help would be appreciated!

I know someone who interned for the Speaker of the House (Fabian Nunez) last summer; moreover, it was a PAID internship, which is amazing for a government internship. Since it's in the Speaker's office, it obviously does involve communications.

I also know someone else who worked in Mark Leno's office, focusing on media/press stuff for him.

If you're already interning with a US Congressperson, I would suggest you talk to people in that office and see what connections you can use to find positions tailored to your interests.
