Sad, sad SAT scores

I wish they counted for more.

The SAT is racist and discriminatory to lower income. Only the rich kids who can afford the $3000 courses that guarantee a 200 point raise benefit from this test. Anyway, you guys don't even need the 2100+ on the SAT unless you want to go to Ivy. 1900-2000 is fine for most places.

Believe me, I wish there weren't those courses that raise people's test scores. I'd look a lot better by comparison if my competition wasn't 200 points closer. In my view that kind of test prep is almost... dishonest. Instead of going into the test as yourself prepared to display what you know and what you're capable of, you go in trying to display how well you know the test.

The SAT is prejudiced against people.

no. the sat is prejudiced against me

enough with the SAT discussion. We all know the SAT is biased, but what better alternatives do we have?

Act .

LOL. Harry, how did you post that with only 4 characters?

I can think of an alternative.

me got 1900.

DeShawn Stevenson on the Utah Jazz got a 420 (old scale). He had to go straight to the pros, because no college wanted to be investigated for helping athletes pass. Its also an appropriate score, since he's a hopeless stoner.

Eh those courses dont do ****. I worked it out with Kaplan where they sponsored me for free, and the teacher just reads straight out of a book. Its stupid. THe only thing I learned how to do wewll from Kaplan is write the essays.

LOL i got a 2060

pitiful...

My academic rival who is in the top 2% of her class and does nothing but study and read (she's a very DEPRESSING person and even diagnosed herself as depressed) scored a 1240 on the NEW SAT!!! Yes, that's right. A 1240.

I got a 7 on the essay. That is a pretty sad score IMHO. (2280 though)

The SATs don't completely measure one's intellectual ability.

I have a 2150, and one guy in my school who is ranked slightly ahead of me has a 1960. As I have done, he has also taken the hardest courses available, and I've seen him in many of my classes like AP Calc BC and AP chem.

Back to the original subject. My ex-girlfriend's twin sister's boyfriend got a 710 on writing, a 770 on the critical reading, and a 410 on the math... that's kinda unbalanced if you ask me.

I got an 1850. I don't care if it's bad I'm happy with it. (610m, 610cr, 630w)

a 1850 is by no means bad... it is well above average, and good enough for many decent colleges in the US

I got a 1260(old sat) and have given up all hopes to get into the ivies or any othe top 25 for that matter.Even if you have an excelent GPA and stellar list of EC's and have a very high ranking...still NOTHINGwill work cause the 1260 will haunt me forever since the adcoms dont even look at apps with scores lower than 1300. so i m resigned to my fate:(

I know personal experiences don't count but a kid from my school in NY (the most compettive state for Cornell applicants) was accepted with a 1240 SAT. Granted, he had a VERY rigourous curriculum and tons of awards in mathematics research. He was really active in school as well.
