I have, do you have a point?

Me? Cranky? Geez. Where did you get THAT brilliant conclusion? I know where you pulled it from, but I can’t say that here.

Post of the day!

MOWC, you don’t need to help my case. I’m fine on my own.

Looks like you are lost, BillyP. This isn’t political forum.

I guess I got confused by all of the sniping.

Billy clicked the wrong button. I think he’s confused about the sniper (but I see he changed his post to remove the accusation against jym).

collegekidsmom- Here’s the way I see it. I don’t have blinders on. There are good and bad things about every college. Even though your kid is at an expensive, highly selective college, you don’t have to be justify it by claiming every single thing about it is perfect. I am thrilled that my son is at Penn and even more thrilled that he is about to graduate and has a job! I just have some concerns- and I especially was concerned last Friday night when I started the thread right after hearing about the shooting at 40th and Walnut.
I’m secure enough to have concerns and not have to blow sunshine up everyone’s butt by claiming Penn might as well be by a lake in the Poconos. I have stated over and over again that my son has made the most of Philadelphia (has worked downtown for 3 years, goes out (too much) etc) and that I like a lot of things about it.
Get over yourself.

Not confused at all who the snipers and their allies are.

IMO, MOWC started this thread because of an experience she had, and chose to share it with others here. Now, a gazillion pages into the thread, her intent, underlying feelings and demeanor are in question? Seems she is on the receiving end of the “ganging up”.

Do you guys take turns coming in off the bench, or just pass the baton? Please take that silliness back to the pol forum.

collegekidsmom must not realize that NO ONE could be cranky coming off of a weekend filled with TastyKakes!

I think so many of these threads would be so much more pleasant and usually end on a happier note if people could speak for themselves without the rear guard showing up.

And it might be helpful if that same rear guard did “read the entire thread” before moving in. :)

Agree- Billy popped in really late and obviously didn’t get the point of the thread.

I think we know who is in the important front line position around here. :)

Getting back on topic, for a change, its is amusing that some are disagreeing about the relative “grittiness” of the area around Penn, yet elsewhere the area around Rice was considered “inner city”. Funny how things appear in different perspectives.

Well, as my friend from the Texas State thread would say, “This is MY thread!” :)

Maybe we should talk about Rice?

you guys go on without me. i’m starting at the start of the thread but honestly, mummom, you’re not there for quite awhile.

I do appreciate this thread as I have a younger kid who will be looking at colleges soon. Safety is a main concern for us. So often parents do not want to say anything negative about their kid’s school. The whole point of CC is to share information. I just don’t understand all those snide remarks. If you got something to say just spit it out. A smile face doesn’t make any nasty remark sound better. It was a mistake to have the political cafe, all the nastiness just gets spilled over to other forums.

The Eagles…you like the Eagles? Wow.

Well, I have to say, not everyone is a crank in West Philly. Friend took me to a terrific
Vietnamese restaurant there. Everyone was super polite and the food was great.

MOWC, awesome that your s has a job! Congrats! Wish I could say the same. This may be a long summer. Good thing VFP and KofP are nearby…

oldfort: Just to be clear, I completely agree with MOWC in this thread. However, I also think others should be able to disagree without the rear guard showing up to defend her. It gets old.

I was at the 1960 championship game that the Eagles won. My mother and father were friends at Penn with Chuck Bednarik. The Eagles are in my blood.
