<p>The vast majority of colleges in this country are completely safe and very well patrolled. Seriously, I can’t think of one major university that doesn’t make a priority out of making sure that its students are safe. As long as you aren’t an idiot (walking downtown by yourself at 3 am), you’ll be fine anywhere. Random crimes can and do happen, but they are random (hence the name) and you can’t really plan your life around them.</p>

<p>Colby is pretty safe. First off we are located on a hill thats pretty out of the way. I have never felt unsafe on campus. They do a good job of giving enough lighting but not making it a football game under the lights. Security is very friendly and likes to get to know you. I have never seen a dorm entrance propped open or unlocked and security is always around. Like any college, we have the occasional theft and sexual assault (not to say they arent significant) but theres no real fear on campus.</p>
