Safeties Where We Have To Pay Only $5000

Ultimate Safeties

Don't exist.

Without need- or merit-based aid, you won't get below $10.000 a year for tuition, room and board, and then you have to consider additional expenses like health insurance, books and living expenses over breaks when residence and dining halls are oftentimes closed.

Try
Berea College
Olin College (engine only)
Cooper Union (arch, fine art, engine only)
Webb Institute (naval arch/engine only)
Deep Springs College (2-year)

^ OMG OMG heights of ignorance!

First Deep Springs deadline has passed and if you think its easy to get into DS - wake up!

Cooper Union - Until and unless you are a permanent resident, you cant apply.

Olin - WOW This is the limit! Olin a safety?

Berea- Its not easy to get in they just take one student per country.

PS If I am sounding rude I can't help it. These kind of posts drive me crazy.

ajayc: Thanks for taking the words right out of my mouth! (hug :))

Just a side note - one does not have to be a permanent resident to apply to Cooper Union. They only require a permanent mailing address in the US (they do issue I-20s for student visas). However, the suggested yearly budget for an international student is close to $22,000, far beyond the $5,000 requested by the OP and it is certainly anything but a safety...

Webb Institute - $9,000 a year for room & board.

Olin - $12,000 for room and board. And again, definitely no safety.

Deep Springs: I have to admit that it's free, but certainly no safety either (7% admit rate and 0% international student population speak worlds)

Berea might come closest to what the OP asked for. But again no real safety (the international admission rate is 4%!!!), and they still charge $6,000 a year for room and board...

well its not exactly 5000$ but its pretty cheap-
SUNY at buffalo-
its international students % is 8%,
it does give need based aid to internationals and though official tution is 12000$ it usually falls down for those with around 1400 above sat score.

shreya, where did you find the information that SUNY Buffalo provides aid to internationals? It's website states the opposite:

Unfortunately, Buffalo State College does not offer any type of financial aid or scholarships to international students.

Buffalo State College - Financial Aid Resources for International Students

Financial Aid
International students eligible for need-based aid
Number of enrolled international undergraduates received aid: 108
Total amount awarded : $277,236

i found this on the college board ebsite,
also i have a friend whose bro is there, he had a 2200 sat and she told me he did get some money(didn't specify)

omg! yay! b@a!um hugged me :D

Deep Springs does have an international population. At present there is one Indian in their class. But since they whole enrollment is 26 it really doest matter.

Haha, that's funny :). One college in the world which has just ONE Indian :D

but i have above average stats. I am applying to Yale SCEA. and several good LACs. People from my school having similar stats get very good aid in these. So, i can expect to get scholarships (if any) in SAFETIES.

which school do You go to?

Nepal, Kathmandu, Budhanilkantha School

What's your SAT score and (if applicable) class rank?

olin a safety...i wish!!

Look at the University of New Orleans, they have very good scholarships. I recently received the Chancellor scholarship.

Scholarships
Undergraduate Scholarships for Out-of-State Residents

Costs
Fast Facts

^ neat. Any idea how many of them are awarded?

I believe about 100 or so, but I'm not that sure. UNO is rolling basis, so the sooner you apply the sooner you will get it.
