Im narrowing down my college list and as an international student, I can
t seem to find schools that would serve as safety choices, keeping in mind that I`m in need of financial aid (family contribution will need to be at most 10k per year). Not only are acceptance rates way lower for foreign students than for US citizens, but the number also goes down for students requesting aid. I have seen universities with acceptance rates of about 5% for aid-seeking international students with overall rates of up to 60%. What is more, most schools don´t publish this data so I don´t know where to look. I have a better shot at top need-blind universities (HYP) than at most other schools. Are there any viable options as safety schools for students in my situation?
If the maximum that you can afford is $10k per year, then there most likely is no safety school in the US for you. Just room and board (ie, living expenses) are going to be more than this unless you can get significant financial aid.
The only exception that I can think of is if you happen to have a relative that lives close to a community college, and would let you live with them. Even this would not be enough to get a bachelor’s degree.
Your safety probably needs to be in your home country.
Have a look at the following list (or find updated versions on CC):

You’d need to find schools where the application deadline has not passed, that open their scholarships to OOS/international students, where your qualifications meet their requirements, and where the award is sufficient to cover your need.
