Safeties???

So I'm only a sophomore and my stats are foreign(all the ones so far are European) so they probably won't help. Based on rank and acceptance rate only, what would constitute a safety school?

As in would you consider a school with a 35% acceptance rate a safety, or 40% or 65%?

I know your own stats matter in this context but I don't have them yet so I'm really just talking about a rough estimate.

How much will your parents pay?

A safety for an international is one that you know that you’ll have all costs covered and you know that you’ll get accepted to.

If your parents will pay - say $40k per year - and you have decent stats, there are many good state and schools that would accept you.

A 30% acceptance rate is probably not a safety. A school with a 65% acceptance probably is.

My parents can’t pay that much, max 15.000. But I’ll actually be graduating from an American prep-school with a ca. 30% acceptance rate, and already have a pretty big scholarship(extending to college) that I belive will really help me cover that part.

Plus due to the nature of my scholarship I am restricted to certain schools, and most of them offer to back you up, financially, a 100% if you can prove that you need it, even for internationals.

So I was more thinking along the lines of just getting in.

???

Can you clarify?

What scholarship do you have and where is it from?

What schools do you have to consider?

What/who has a 30% acceptance rate?

Your thread is about safeties. How would those schools’ costs get covered?

I’d rather not say too much seeing as It’s the kind of information that could get you identified.

I guess it really isn’t possible to find safeties without weighing all sorts of varieables that just doesn’t work online. Thanks for answering anyway :)
