Help me find some safeties!?

As a rising senior I have recently been obsessing over the college process. Having picked which schools I have wanted to apply to since last november, i am now worried that i will not be accepted to the majority of them....

I have a 3.55 unweighted gpa
Sat composite: 1840
Cr:610
M:610
W:620

The schools i am applying to are
University of New Hampshire, in state
University of Maine
North Carolina State University
University of North Carolina at Wilmington
University of South Carolina Columbia

I am really focused on schools in the northeast or carolinas and virginia. I like the opportunities large schools offer and want to major in either marine biology or statistics.

Thanks!

I think you have a great shot at all of those schools.

Thanks for your encouragement! I am most concerned with the 18% out of state limitations in North Carolina, do you think my new hampshire residency will be beneficial?

Check out SUNY Stony Brook. :)

Safety schools MUST be affordable…which means that you have to know that you have all costs covered.

You have some expensive OOS publics on your list and they won’t likely give you aid. So, have you asked your parents if they’ll pay all the costs of an OOS public (probably about $30,000+ per year)?

If your parents will pay all costs, then you’re good to go and you could even add some more… :)

If your parents won’t pay for all costs, then how much will they pay each year? Your safeties will depend on how much your parents will pay.

Ive had numerous financial talks with my parents and the general consensus is that i can apply anywhere, but the price tag of the instate school is what will be provided, apprx. 27000$, the rest relies on me. Needless to say, I am choosing to apply to some schools that offer aid to out of staters, like UMaine and USC. Hopefully i can get some scholarhips too! Every penny counts!
