Hey fam
so my GPA is 3.08 UW, 3.23 W although there are several factors as to why it’s kinda low. New school didn’t weigh my honors classes, extenuating circumstances, etc. My ACT is a 32 which is ok. Anyway, I applied to some schools and the problem would be my ACT was at or above the 75% range while my Gpa would be below average. As for now, my safeties are Cal Poly Pomona, CU Boulder(EA), and Penn State. Are these actually safeties for me or do I need to add more reasonable schools?
I think your ACT helps you enough to make these Cal Poly Pomona and CU Boulder safeties. Probably >70% chance of admission.
Penn State I would call a low match.
It’s a bit hard to predict though, because like you said, your ACT is quite high for these schools but your GPA is low.
If I were you, I might add a few more safeties.
Add some safeties.
UC Riverside and some more Cal States.
If you’re interested in Penn State you may want to look at other PA schools that might be safeties. Muhlenberg is a great school. Juniata. Temple maybe.
I agree Muhlenberg is a great school. It is also a very expensive school, which to my way of thinking, makes it difficult to count on as a safety unless money isn’t a factor.
i applied to riverside although I didn’t consider it a safety. I am from Cali so I’m not really too interested in Penn State so yeah lol
Muhlenberg has been known to give merit.
You should apply to a few more universities - Cal Lutheran , Pacific Lutheran, UPortland, USeattle, ULaverne, URedlands, Northern Arizona University?
I think your GPA will make Penn State offers you a branch campus, perhaps Harrisburg or Altoona.
Cpp may not be a safety depending on your major but all in all is pretty safe.
Its all good guys, I got into Rutgers and Penn State UP. Both engineering.
Congratulations!
Check - did you really get into Penn State UP for Engineering, not Behrend or Altoona? (Because even students with 3.5 were admitted to branch campuses.)
Are Rutgers and Penn State affordable?
I did! Also money is not a concern for my family (not trying to sound snobby lol) so yes they are affordable. Now onto the UCs
