Hi I’m about to be a senior in a few months and I’ve narrowed down the schools I want to attend but I’m really struggling to pick safety schools and realize which ones actually are safety schools for me. If anyone could give me some suggestions based on my stats that would be greatly appreciated! I’m also a Southeast Asian Female is that makes a difference.
High School - rural, small school in Upstate NY
Intended Major - International Relations
ACT (retaking) - composite 29/ english 31/ math 27/ reading 30/ science 27/ writing and english 30
SAT - I really hate this exam so I’m most likely not going to submit it to any colleges
Unweighted GPA - 95.4 (Not sure what it is out of 4.0, school doesn’t tell us)
Weighted GPA - again, not sure since the school doesn’t tell us
APs - Took APUSH junior year and received a 4 on the exam, will be taking AP Bio, Lit, and Calc senior year (all the APs offered by the school)
Courses Taken - all the honors/advanced courses offered
Rank - 6 out of 115
Extracurriculars: VP of Yearbook Club and Foreign Language Club, member of Prom Committee, GSA, and possibly a few other clubs that I can’t recall, part of the school’s High School Challenge (exclusive group that competes with other schools in trivia), 3 Years Field Hockey, 2 Years Track and Field, and will apply to NHS in the fall
Volunteer Work - currently volunteering at a local hospital and worked with a local church in Indonesia whenever I visit (every three years) helping the less fortunate and visiting schools
Others Schools in Consideration - NYU is top choice, also looking at George Washington, Boston University, Syracuse University, American University
PS - I live in New York State so I’m considering applying to SUNY Geneso and New Paltz as safety schools but I’m not quite sure
