Saint Louis University Direct Admit OT?

Hello all-
I'm currently a high school senior in a bit of a rut. I was admitted into SLU's 5 year Occupational Therapy program with scholarships and money. They were generous. But the problem is, their tuition goes up every year and it's not exactly the "college town" I've come to know and want. I liked the campus, but it wasn't anything to drool over. So it'll be around 22,000 a year (not counting loans) + a whole summer of gross anatomy (more tuition and room & board) and the financial office said the 2 years of grad school isn't covered by the federal aid I'll be receiving right now. We all realize how expensive grad school is.

On the other hand, I love the University of Iowa. I'd major in Exercise Science. Would that give me a more diverse backround with OT and AT? That's about 28,000 for four years. I really would love to go there, but is it worth being in all that debt after only 4 years? (I'm going to be paying for most of college myself) And then having the stress and uncertainty of not getting into grad school?

But at the same time, I like the options I have at Iowa. There are health science options or I can pursue something completely different while still having that "college life"

So I'm basically conflicted with the program at SLU and Iowa (whose program is nice)

Any suggestions? I have less than 2 weeks to decide :/

Hi, I know this post is ages old. But could you tell me what school you ended up picking? And what type of student were you in high school (grades/act)? I want to get into SLU’s OT program but I’m nervous I won’t be accepted

there is a chance forum you could ask, @MacK109. Do you have an unweighted GPA, SAT, and SATII scores? have you run the net price calculator and talked to your parents about whether they can afford it? You can only borrow $5500 your first year, so you will need your parents help.

I took the act not the SAT and got a 31. My unweighted GPA is a 3.7 I have run the net price calculator and the price is a little iffy. @jkeil911‌

okay, OP. take a look at the left hand column of this page and scroll down to “What are my chances?” Click on that and ask those guys. Give them all this info and anything else you have. I don’t know anything about slu except its middle 50 and avg gpa, and yours should make the school an academic safety. Iffy financing doesn’t sound good. it could take slu out of the picture as a safety because a safety must be affordable. however, if you have another safety, you could hold onto slu because you have a good chance of getting in. there may be slu parameters of which I’m unaware, so you cannot put too much faith in my estimation.
