Hello everyone! so I got admitted to both of these schools and I want to be on a pre-med track but I don’t know what school to choose. I’m only leaning towards slu because I’m familiar with the area but I don’t know which one has a better program for premed students. My parents really want me to choose Philadelphia/Jefferson university because I got a bigger scholarship offer.
sorry I meant Thomas Jefferson University and Saint Louis University if that confused anyone
Both schools have medical schools on site, as well as strong focus on health-related life sciences and pre-med, as well as health profession-specific advising. You’d do well at either school, but may have a preference for urban (Jefferson) vs. suburban (SLU).
The bigger question here is how much cheaper overall does the scholarship/aid make total cost of attendance at Jefferson vs. SLU?
You may find that Jefferson/Philadelphia has a higher cost of living compared to SLU, which could affect your overall numbers. Your parents are correct that cost should be a factor if you’re considering medical school in your future.
All that said, my personal preference would for SLU, for its supportive academics and welcoming sense of community.
What matters is net cost.
Can you list, for each College:
