@franyi thank you. May I ask where you are from?
Thanks for the kind words guys. I’m not giving up yet. I’m going to write a letter of continued interest and really make clear why I believe the St. Olaf community would be a great fit for me, which I feel like I neglected a bit in the admissions process.
For the record, I also applied to Bard, Skidmore, Vassar, Trinity, Colby and ConnColl.
@Pham2000 Hey man, I don’t know if you’re actually deferred or not but I felt a lot better after getting a good night’s sleep. Stay positive, reevaluate and don’t blame yourself. It’s a tough process, and you should be proud of the fact that you made it this far!
To those accepted: I hope the FA packages will be sufficient enough for you to enroll, and I really hope to go to school with you guys next year
@bali4president Thank you! I am in fact deferred, as expected. But it’s okay tho; I don’t beat myself up. You seem like a very positive and thoughtful student I sincerely hope you will get accepted in the RD round.
And to all those accepted, congratulations! Really looking forward to having the chance to study with you!
I’m just catching up on this thread—@bali4president, I think you’re wise to write a letter to the head of Admissions and your AO, stating your case. Put it all out there. Best of luck to you!!! My DS applied regular decision; the wait is killing me!
@Pham2000 Ah, I’m not an international student, I’m from Kansas haha
My D18 just received email notification that she has been admitted (rd) with a campus invite to interview for Buntrock scholarship…!
megawillmae – How did your daughter apply? ED / ED2 / RD?
Sorry – I just noticed that you already said RD. Congratulations to your daughter!!
Anyone receive their financial aid packet/notification yet?
Hey guys, let’s keep this going! Anyone wants to share how thick the envelope is?
@megawillmae Amazing that RD acceptance came so soon!
So far just an email, we don’t have ‘official’ package yet or financial aid notification yet. She is a high stats kid that has pretty much given up on St. Olaf, unless she is wowed by financial aid.
Mine is a finalist for music scholarship. high stats/conservatory level musician kid (no Buntrock invitation though). It’s a long expensive haul to get out there for the live audition.
My D18 is also a finalist for the music scholarship, and no Buntrock invitation. We live in NC, so the live audition an expensive haul for us, too.
@katespeare
We were just out there in November. We have to also buy a seat for instrument on plane. Trying to figure out best option.
When you buy a seat for an instrument, does the instrument earn frequent flier miles?
Unfortunately not! But it can use miles for the ticket!
I’m wondering if anyone knows—what does it take to get a Buntrock invite? How “high stats” are the candidates?
I was surprised mine was not invited but can’t complain with the potential music scholarship. She has 1550 SAT, 4.8 weighted GPA- 12 APs. Lots of music ECs, some community service. Another student from her high school was selected with similar stats but slightly higher SAT. We are from the West Coast.
