Sais?

Anyone get mail from SAIS yet? I have not, but I am living abroad, so it will probably take an extra few days. Did other people also apply for the fellowships that required extra essays?

I'm gonna call tomorrow and demand my rejection letter. You guys want me to ask about this other thing, too?

go ahead and get them to send out my rejection letter to will you?

guessing it's a bad sign if you haven't gotten an email... : (

I'm guessing so, as well, but it's hard to know why they would stall sending them out if there were only rejections remaining. That's super cruel.

Anyway, I'll make a collective demand for rejections. We paid our seventy, damn it; we deserve letterheads with watermarks!

SAIS told me that all remaining students will hear tomorrow or Friday.

Not to get anyone's hopes up, but while some decisions will be rejections, it sounds like a fair number of the people who haven't heard are still waiting because the admissions office is considering admissions conditions, ie, further econ study or english tests.

Good luck to everyone.

Thanks for the hopeful email. Wherever you go, you'll clearly make an excellent diplomat. ; )

As delve deeper into the SAIS website, I have come across a portion of the financial aid page that talks about and ISIS account for checking your financial aid status. I never got any information about this and I wonder if they are not using it for newly admitted students this year. Has anyone else heard anything about this? The link is http://www.sais-jhu.edu/studentservices/financial_aid/isis_self_service.html

On a separate note, has anyone received their mail packet from SAIS yet? It is the last thing that I'm waiting on, so I'm really chomping at the bit here.

No mail yet. Argh! I got the e-mail with admitted students day details today, which is good, I guess; I was starting to wonder if the initial acceptance had been a fluke. It is taking them a long time to stuff envelopes and mail them out. I feel for you guys still waiting. My SO is on pins and needles waiting for medical school admissions & waitlist news. Not a fun time in our house as we try to coordinate our lives.

I have a question for those accepted.

Could you please list the extracurricular activities you were involved in as an undergraduate? I am trying to find worthwhile organizations to join to increase my chances of acceptance to a highly-ranked International Studies graduate program.

Thanks!

I still haven't received anything in the mail from SAIS or SIPA. I'm hoping today or tomorrow.

I don't think ECs are really that important for grad programs in IR. They care more about work experience, internships, etc. If it's related to your field of interest, then it can only help (maybe something like AIESEC or some sort of IR group), but in the end ECs are not really an important component of the IR admissions process. I'd suggest getting internships and experience abroad as an undergrad instead.

"It is taking them a long time to stuff envelopes and mail them out."

Considering they still haven't managed to reject my sorry ass, I'm not surprised that the organization for admitted students is going a little slow.

Seriously, an adcom with a losing Coke bottle top (Sorry, try again!) could just mail it to my name. As long as there's a JHU return address, I'd get the point.

Wow, STILL nothing today.

Has anyone still waiting been resolved?

I just got a letter in the mail today from SIPA saying I was admitted...the same letter that was online a month ago. But still no packet/further information. What the hell...? I feel like I'm experiencing that famous Columbia bureaucracy at work...

Nope. Me neither. And I live in DC...

Has anyone else still not gotten a letter??? They clearly didn't send my letter any time last week as I live in DC. So frustrating...

Nothing here, either.

I hate to be a dooms-dayer, but it seems to me that everyone that got accepted received an e-mail, anyway.

And the wait is still on for the SAIS addmissions packet... Has anyone heard anything about an online chat for admitted students or anything of the like? Maybe I am missing something.

I got a FedEx package from Washington, DC yesterday, which I'm assuming is from Johns Hopkins. Unfortunately, I wasn't home at the time, so I don't actually have my hands on it yet. But assuming that's it, I'd imagine packages are on the way and people should get them any day now...

Yeah, I received my FedEx package from SAIS on Saturday (probably got it sooner bc I too am in DC). There is a ton of info in there, but nothing I saw about an admitted student chat or anything. Just the open house on the 16th.
