Salute to excellence recognition dinner invitation

Did anyone else get this today? Is this offered to everyone admitted, or is it 'special' in some way?

Dear Xxxx,

The University of Michigan is delighted to invite you and your family to the Salute to Excellence Recognition Dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, at the Michigan

This is an evening to celebrate your academic achievements and welcome you to the University of Michigan community. We hope you and your family can attend this special event.

We look forward to seeing you,

Do you live instate near the metro area? Thats probably why

I got the invite. From Metro Detroit, so maybe Foreveralone is on to something

Did any of you receive a scholarship offer? Back in 2009 my son was invited to this after receiving notification of an award…not to get your hopes up  maybe they do it differently now, but back then, it was for candidates with merit awards.
(Nowadays, they seem to notify later about scholarship, so its possible it’s something else.)

I got a scholarship award letter last Monday.

I received a scholarship award last week and was also invited to apply for another based on community engagement.

Which scholarship did you get? Did you receive the invitation by e-mail or by mail? Are you admitted to LSA or CoE?

I got the invitation by email on Friday. I was admitted LSA, and got the Jean Fairfax Scholarship

I just got my invitation today. What’s the purpose of the dinner? Is there any standards for getting invited?
