Samia asked me to post and let everyone know that she is now here in the states doing her big "audition tour" and will get back to everyone who is still waiting for her tracks as soon as she catches her breath. She flew in to Detroit Wednesday and did her UM audition yesterday, and she is now sleeping at my house where I am hosting her for a few days before she is off to NYC and auditions for NYU, CCM, and BoCo within the next few weeks. UM went well for her - I was there for moral support for her other students of mine who auditioned yesterday (as well as to visit my current UMers) - I met several CC'ers as well! :) - and today she's going to audition for Pittsburgh CLO, a big Equity summer stock gig. I am, in fact, hosting many MT's this weekend from various colleges, as Pittsburgh is MT central for the next 2 days for these auditions!

Go Steelers! (No, Samia does NOT want to watch the Superbowl with us!) ;)

Glad to know you will be there watching over CC'ers and UM'ers alike as my D is one of the UM horde auditioning this afternoon. I know not to expect much as PCLO is very clear about their "mission" as a "civic organization to use as many local performers as possible in" their chorus. The quotes are from the PCLO Audition Application. But I also know that the kids recognize what a valuable experience these auditions are and they are excited and grateful just for the opportunity to show their work to the creative team that casts for PCLO. They look to have a great season of shows planned.

How nice of you to help Samia and please tell her I'm glad her UM audition went well. We've corresponded a bit and my fingers are crossed for her. She's a very talented young woman.

I extend my "break a leg" to all in Pittsburgh this weekend and those traveling to Unifieds over the next ten days or so!

Okay, I just sent out my tracks to all the people who posted and PMed their e-mail addresses. If you don't get it, I missed you somehow, I'm sorry! PM me please if that's the case.

My audition at Michigan went pretty well - I have a good feeling! crossing fingers...knuckles turning white...gahhh...

Hey Samia!! I am not surprised at all that UMich went great! I will bet you anything that you will at LEAST get deferred and ultimately get in! If I win, you get me a front row ticket for your first Broadway show. If I lose, I will buy you and my d dinner when you go to the city.... deal? ;)

Ahha!! Rossji, you are too funny! I would take the bet, only I don't wanna bet against myself, mwahaha. But you're supersweet to say all that! :)

Man, it's going to be really depressing if Michigan rejects me after all this good buzz on CC, gahhhh...sending happy psychic waves to UM

Hey if anyone knows where Samia is (including you, Samia!) please have her call my d again in NYC; she didn't leave her number and thus never was able to see Spelling Bee with her! I know, strange message, but when you can't reach someone by phone, CC is the next best thing, lol!

Okay, I'm making this into the Samia Update thread, mwahaha. I auditioned for NYU today...and it went awesomely!!! I felt great about all four of my pieces, and the auditor said some really nice things about my performance. Overall, the whole experience was really easy-going and nice. I have a great feeling about it!!!

I love New York, and I love NYU - I would so love to go there, so yay!!!!!

Rossji - I'm more excited than ever to have lunch/coffee with your D and find out more about the school. Yay!

Hey! I had NO DOUBT that your audition would go SPLENDIDLY! (Even if you WERE sick, and you sounded a little congested on the phone the other day!) Is NYU your first choice?? Just wondering! Congrats on a great audition!

Honestly, all four of the schools I'm auditioning for on this trip are top choice schools for me. I'm trying not to put my focus on any one school until after I get my letters, ya know?

Thanks for the support! Yeah, I've been super-congested all week, and you actually called me in the middle of a sick-nap. :) But because I stayed in bed all day yesterday, just drinking tea and popping Zicams every three hours, I woke up today feeling great. My sore throat and headache were totally gone, and I just had a little minor sinus cloggage - easily dispelled with some steam and constant warming up. :) So yay!

Side note: KIDS - if you are sick and you have an audition the next day, CANCEL EVERYTHING ON YOUR SCHEDULE and STAY IN BED ALL DAY. It really helps you get over the sickness faster. And afterward, BE CAREFUL not to overexert yourself, or you will get sick again. That's what happened to me this week. I got sick Saturday night, stayed in bed all day Sunday, felt great on Monday, overexerted by singing my face off at Marie's Crisis for 4 hours, and got sick again on Tuesday. I had to take it really easy Tuesday and Wednesday to recover in time for this audition. So if you have school or rehearsals or whatever but you have a cold, seriously consider calling in sick to everything so that you can recover faster. Otherwise, the cold that I managed to kick in a few days could last for a few weeks, ya know? Take care of yourselves, fellow MTers!

Samia, fingers and toes crossed for you!! Sounds like an awesome audition....the best you can hope for is to come out of it feeling you did your best and it went well. That is a success, truly. I'm hoping you get in as I know you really want to. Sending positive vibes your way. Would you be a junior if accepted? Not sure how that works. Now, that would be so fun if you met up with my daughter, rossJi's D, all the upcoming kids on here who got in ED and others represented on CC! It is funny because last year, when my D was applying and she doesn't participate on CC but as you know, I do...and there was a student on here who got into CAP, named CollegeBound87, who for the LONGEST time, I assumed was a girl but he is not :D. So, he knew my D was going to CAP and would be in his class. Even a teacher of his from his PA HS who used to participate on here sent me an email telling me about him. Well, lo and behold, who do you think is one of my D's best friends now at NYU??? Collegebound87!!! Who woulda thunk it? In fact, he just mailed me a check for a ticket I laid out for him to go to a concert with my D in NYC and he signed a little handwritten note to me as "Collegebound87", so cute. So, let's hope our little "connection" on CC results in new friendships between the young adults on here!! Keep us posted. You done good, girl.

I've listened over and over to these beautiful songs so beautifully done. It just occurred to me that I've never heard any of them before. Does Samia (or anyone) know who wrote them? Are they from shows? They really are lovely......

2 come from CoachC's MT repertoire stash :), and one comes from Jeff Blumenkrantz, who posted here about his wonderful songbook (which Samia then got).
