<p>I am in a CBSE school. I changed schools after 10th. I've decided to ask my present school to prepare a single transcript for all 4 yrs, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th on a document with the school letterhead and upload it online via commonapp. Would that be okay or should I get it attested and then scanned? </p>
<p>Also, can someone please send me a sample transcript or the format for a transcript?</p>

<p>How can your present school, that you joined last year, prepare a transcript for all four years? You need to get a transcript from your previous school too.</p>
<p>I’ve been told that it is okay if the second school sends the transcript for all 4 years since it admitted me on the basis of my 9th and 10th marksheets. It WILL make things simpler, However I do want to confirm if it’s all right.
I also wanted to kno if ‘transcript’ simply means report card or should I ask my school/schools to prepare marksheet-style documents? If yes, what should be the format?
And if I do end up sending two transcripts, or scans of all 4 of my report cards, is it possible to upload them via commonapp? Or is snail mail the ONLY way to go? Can multiple documents be uploaded?</p>

Transcripts simply put, are report cards.
In US, applicants have all the grades of class 9, 10, 11 and 12th, printed on just a single sheet of paper, instead of several sheets like we have it in India- a new report card for every class.
One can send all the four report cards as well, however, I read that adcoms find it easier to read a transcripts because all the grades of all 4 classes are in the same sheet of paper. So it’s better and easier for then to analyze and compare easily as well.

Rew2402 : So it IS okay if my current school makes the transcript? Or shall I get two - one from each school? ( Actually, I am now in another branch of the same school, same city. So I think this school CAN make a transcript for all 4 years, right?)
Also, shouldn’t I send the 10th Board official marksheet also separately?
And are you sure snail mail’s the only way? Friends of mine say uploading scans via commonapp is also possible.</p>

Yes, your school can make that for all 4 years. I remember there was a 16ers who changed school and his new school made the transcript for all 4 years, however, he had to how the proof of scores for previous grades.
IKR? I sucks man. Too much to do and it’s all so confusing sometimes, and on top of that, our school never had a guidance counselor to help us with any such stuff.
It’s that most of the 17ers have mid terms this month and therefore taking this long to respond.

<p>Your counselor CAN upload digital copies of the same.</p>
<p>Okay guys, I mailed the Princeton Admission office and they replied saying
a) My new school CAN make a single transcript for all the 4 years ( However, I’m sending two, one each from each school, just for safety)
b) Paper transcripts CAN be scanned and sent online
Now I don’t know if this applies to other schools, too, but I’m guessing it should. Anyway, I’m emailing admission offices of other colleges and asking them directly, too.</p>
<p>@Rew - I have my midterms on, too. So difficult to concentrate while I’m worrying about this. I have no counselor either, figuring it all out on my own.

@Count08 - I think it’d be better to get paper transcripts scanned rather than get our schools to make electronic ones, because there’s no way to get the latter attested and stamped, right? If we get the attested ones scanned, it’ll probably give a better impression of authenticity, especially since our schools do not provide American-style transcripts as such.</p>

<p>Anvesh - I also don’t know exactly, but what I’m planning to do is ask my old school to make a transcript for 9th and 10th, include 10th board marks in that, and details like rank and average. And attach the Board marksheet also separately.
The board marksheet - at least in CBSE - does not show rank and stuff. In fact, neither do my school report cards. However, since that information is in the context of the school I think our school can provide all that.</p>
<p>Guys, my initial request still remains unanswered. Can anyone please give me the format for the transcript? And also the school profile?
I checked out some samples on the net, but they were all US high school transcripts and profiles. I want to know how that is to be adapted to our system, and what info should be included. Should midterm results and unit test results of all the 4 years also be included in the transcript? Some sample school profiles I saw also listed the names of some colleges attended by the graduates of that high school. Should our transcript also include stuff like that? I doubt whether my school keeps such records.</p>
<p>Also, in the Secondary School Report, in the GPA section, do they want an average for all 4 years or only the 12th std percentage? If the former’s the case, are we supposed to just leave it blank (since we don’t get 4 year averages)?</p>

<p>For 9/10/11 grades only Final Report card/Marksheet is required.</p>
<p>With regards to ranking, if I remember correctly from my own as well as my D’s report cards, the grade breakup or percentile score is usually printed on the back of the report card/markshheet, which is a reference point for one’s individual performance vis a vis the rest of the class or nationally.</p>
<p>For grade 12, if at the time of sending the application midterm report is available then that is the one, or if results are awaited, then those will be required to be sent as soon as they are available. The application status will remain incomplete without that.</p>
<p>One page transcript format, you can PM MRINAL for that, I think there was a discussion earlier too on this topic, and Tizil had helped out then. I hope my memory serves me right on the names that I have mentioned in this context.</p>
