SAMS at Carnegie Mellon 2019-2020 Discussion

i didn’t contact her first… which is what makes me think it might be a good sign that i got in or something. did u get an email?

@amandac21 Congratulations!!
@uhokay I emailed Diane first and later she called and talked to me regarding my application

@young0509 well, I didn’t get any sort of email so that’s making me wonder…(haha nervous laughter) anyways gl! I think the email may actually mean something if you didn’t email her yourself.

@uhokay when did u submit your application? Iam waiting too :frowning:

Thank You!!! @Liveluv

She emailed me out of nowhere. I did not contact her asking.

I got the email too but it was strange because she wrote “Happy New Year” which doesn’t make any sense. I think that if you got the email you will not probably get accepted. I don’t know. Like a lot of people got their decisions yesterday while others only got the email and from what I can read here, they all applied at similar times.
Maybe is just me and my paranoia lol
My other theory is that the ones that applied after January 5th will get a decision by mid-February because the email said that we would get the decision before February 5th and some people already got their decisions so the rest would just get decisions in the next round.

Hey guys when you guys applied for SAMS did you select any other pre-college programs? There is a scholarship consideration thing but it’s prob for the other programs since SAMS is free. Should I still check yes?

does anyone have admit rates for this

@mathkid2004 I applied on Jan 15, and haven’t heard from diane or anyone. so idkkkk

The admission rate for SAMS is less than 15%, this year, SAMS is onky accepting about 75 people, which means it is relatively more difficult to get in

@RaisanBran Parent of a 2019 SAMS Alum. The acceptance rate last year given by the director of the program was around 10% with approximately 140 or so students accepted (20 rising juniors and 120 rising seniors) out of 1400+ applicants.

I wasn’t accepted to SAMS, but I did get a full scholarship for the summer session.

@BoundtoSucceed when did you apply?
I emailed Diane and she told me that i will get a decision in three weeks after i applied, she mentioned nothing about February 5th whatsoever

The next decisions wave will probably be in two weeks from yesterday

@j_florez211 I don’t really know why she said happy new year either… maybe if you indicated that you’re Asian American she wished you happy lunar new year? xD
I don’t think that the email means we won’t get in… because looking at previous threads a lot of people who got in has had contact with Diane before their decision. I find it strange that they’re giving us our decisions before 2/5 because they’ve done decision waves on Fridays…
I’m also super paranoid ngl, I really want to go to sams :frowning:

@young0509 Yeah hahah, it was weird.
Idk, I don’t think we’ll get decisions before 2/5 because they always release decisions at the same time. My guess is that we’ll get a decision by 2/14 since this year they have been releasing decisions every two weeks.
I really want to get in too!!!

When I received my acceptance, it was on Friday, January 19th, I received around 4 P.M. Pacific Time

17th*^

hey guys, when you applied to SAMS, did you also choose to apply to other programs or just SAMS
