SAN DIEGO STATE 2021 RESULTS THREAD

@luckymom22 - Oops! I’ll totally take the blame, as I don’t remember if the person misspoke or if I just heard wrong. Half my family has lived in our area of the city for so many generations that I’m embarrassed to say that I forget there are families near 56 that live south but go to high school north of it. The families we know in our cluster and in the surrounding communities and towns all go to public/charter/private/parochial schools south of 56, so I completely forgot! You are right, it is more accurate to say otherwise. I apologize for any misunderstanding.

@jpc763 - I’ll second the recommendation for Weber Honors College. My Aztec kid has enjoyed his experience in WHC, and it has been wonderful as a parent (and proud alumna!) to watch him grow and thrive there. Zura Hall is amazing with its 54 million dollar renovation, including state-of-the-art study areas/rooms. My son is very close with his WHC floormates from his freshman year, and they continue to cheer one another on, as well as take classes and study together. A very strong cohort. The WHC staff is always available when he has a question or just stops by. Terrific and very active honor societies. He loved his study abroad time with a group from his cohort. Lots of internship and research opportunities. A lovely and small community within a large university. In addition to RAs, since the Honors dorm is a Residential Learning Community, each floor has an Academic Mentor, too. The AMs help residents plan out their courses, connect residents with campus academic resources, create programs for the residents, check in with residents about their academics and if they are having any issues, etc. WHC also gives students an immediate niche/connection on campus. The minute they move into the dorm, they are a part of the WHC family.

Regarding the lack of priority registration - that hasn’t been an issue for my kid. He’s always gotten the classes he needs. The wait list is now computerized, which makes it a much easier task. Gone are the nightmare days of the 1980s when dozens of us would sit in the back of a class for the first week hoping to crash it. As long as the student has a flexible schedule and is willing to have classes outside of 9 - 11 a.m., there usually isn’t a problem.

What are my chances into Computer Science?

@ucaddict: Excellent chance with an eligibility index of 4550

so many OOS acceptances far below my gpa/act score in same major. doesn’t seem fair. still waiting.

What gpa range? You’ve seen a lot of oos acceptances come out? I’m oos and haven’t heard anything

@Sandiegan: Most acceotances will be out Mid-Feb. be patient

@sandiegan I’m OOS too. Submitted my app early, communicated with the office, and my EI is high…and I haven’t heard either. hang in there!

What are my chances at getting into SDSU??
In-State
CSU GPA: 4:32
SAT: 1230 /1600
Intended Major: Nursing

I still haven’t heard back, but I heard that those with nursing as their intended majors got accepted last or later than usual.

@sdsunursing you do have a great chance of admittance into the nursing program. However, due to the competitive nature of this program, some posters have referred to SDSU nursing as a lottery. Many times students with lower EIs have been accepted over students with higher stats, so you never know. Nursing admits are typically sent out last, so be patient.

It appears to me that SDSU has started admitting out of state applicants, i wonder how soon will “out of service area” applicants hear back :<

Accepted
CSU GPA: 4.18
ACT: 33
Intended Major: Psychology
CA Resident: Yes

Congrats @randonkid98! Did you receive notice on 2/6? Just curious if the next round of admit letters went out. Thanks

Are admission letters starting to be sent out again?

@LanaDelTaco: I think @randomkid98 was accepted in December with the other high stat applicants and just now posted. I would expect decisions will start coming out next week if SDSU holds to their typical pattern from the last few years.

@LanaDelTaco @elmodiego @Gumbymom I was accepted on Dec 15th–> and was offered to apply to the Honors. That’s the only reason it was that early. I haven’t found out if I have been accepted to the Honors program yet. I think results come out around late feb??? Good luck to you all!

Anyone hear from Weber honors yet? Last year they decisions came out Feb 12th.

@pozvibes do you know if they were notified via e-mail or on the portal?

Last year it Looks like some got email and some by regular mail. So not 100% sure. Decisions should be any day.

@uclahopefull SDSU Nursing Admissions is not a lottery. .“Students will be admitted to the School of Nursing according to rank and the number of positions available.” EI is not the only admissions criteria. Besides GPA and test scores, SDSU also looks at the rigor of high school courses. This is documented on the admissions website…

Last year SDSU nursing admits were notified on Feb 25 and denials on Feb 29.
