Does anyone know when early acceptance decisions are released? I’ve always thought UC gpa to be 10-11, but when entering my grades in the Cal State Apply form, it took into consideration my 9th grade GPA, which lowered my overall weighted GPA to 4.23.

My school does not allow any weighted classes into 9th grade which is why my GPA is lowered although I got good grades that year. Will SDSU take that into account?

@kalyannath2000: The CSU and UC GPA is 10-11th grades with a cap of 8 semesters of approved Honors points. I think the new Cal state apply has many glitches including calculating the CSU GPA wrong. SLO is the only CSU that uses 9-11th grades for their GPA calculation. SDSU will base your GPA on the self-reported grades you submitted on the application, so no worries. Also the UC GPA quoted is the Fully weighted which only UCLA/UCB consider. The rest of the UC’s will consider the UC capped weighted GPA. Best of luck and you look very competitive.

Ok. I’ll change my gpa. And is FAFSA required for early acceptance at SDSU? My parents had a little difficulty in signing the FAFSA and just submitted it today. I remember from the past couple years that early-decisions were released around the 15th of December, so will my “late” FAFSA submission impact my admissions?

Does anyone know when early acceptance decisions are released?

@kalyannath2000: The FASFA is not required for admission decisions, but if you are applying for financial aid then getting it sooner is always better. Did you apply to a specific major or Undeclared?

Last year the early acceptances came out December 14th but with a record # of applicants again this year, I would think next week sometime. Best of luck to all applicants.

@Gumbymom I applied for bio. I am only applying for merit aid, which I don’t think constitutes financial aid. Will admissions to the honors college or the University be sent first? Thanks!

@kalyannath2000: SDSU gives little merit aid and you will need to apply to these scholarships so nothing automatic. The High Stat, Honors college invitees are notified first along with OOS applicants. Filling out the FASFA is to determine if you are eligible for Federal aid and not merit scholarships. Here is a link to possible merit scholarships available at SDSU. The UC’s and Cal States mainly provide need-based aid as determined by the FASFA and not merit aid.
