Hi, I don’t know if I am posting this in the right place, but I just wanted some guidance and stories with the SDSU live-on exemption. My boyfriend currently lives in Escondido (way north of the SDSU local area) and he wants to live at home in Escondido for various reasons like wanting to be with family, not having even close to enough money to pay for the additional costs of on-housing, etc. The whole live-on requirement is even worse for him because he is going to be a nursing major too. Looking at the criteria, he can maybe make a case for financial hardship, but what are some possible things he could submit or examples that worked for you guys? I really want to help him because his college savings are already so low and uncertain that the additional costs of housing would destroy all chances of him going to SDSU…
In case you haven’t seen the exemption form http://housing.sdsu.edu/future_residents/apply/exemption_request.aspx It’s for admitted students and I don’t believe any nursing students have been admitted yet for F2018.
Thanks for the link! I looked over the form just now and I think his most promising chance is the category of “financial hardship”. Do you know anyone that has successfully been exempted or do you know of any types of financial documentation that he could submit that would give him a good chance? I see that it talks about things like foreclosures and bankruptcy but I just want to know if there are any other things he could use.
