It’s down
hopefully it means they’re putting in decisions… :-S
ugh its almost been down 3 hours :-SS
@pekkla - Let me guess… “Omar” the “Communications Counselor”? Yes, very rude. Good luck, I’ll be right here with you appealing on behalf of my DD.
@pekkla If your daughter is interested in pursuing medicine, I would head over to UC Riverside as the Highlanders have a medical school. It’s not so much about the prestige, but rather the opportunities behind it. My sister at UC San Diego got so many research offers related to medicine during the year and internships through connections during the summer. I have seen online of SJSU alumni going to medical school elsewhere (UCLA, UCI, and Miami iirc), but it’s much easier at a place that has a medical school.
If your daughter is interested in biology because she loves biology, the program here is decent (from what I’ve heard). It’s not amazing but not horrible. There is a program sponsored by the National Science Foundation called RUMBA (a Research Experience for Undergraduate program), that gives people the opportunity to conduct summer research in Molecular Biology. There are other REUs at other multiple universities as well. However, REUs are mainly designed for those at non-research institutions (like SJSU), so if she went to UCR, then it will probably be the case that she will do research there during the school year.
is the portal still down for anyone else?
Yeah my portal is just stuck on the loading page @lilaclily
portal back, no decision
Wth…same. Still waiting on SJSU…meanwhile son gets blindsided with UC Davis acceptance tonight :-?? So hard to try and predict anything with colleges these days
yep, it’s back with no decision
My portal is back. Still decision pending.
This is so exhausting!
Im confused. SJSU website said they would release decisions late February, but it’s March and my portal still says decision pending. :-?
:-/ portal was down for a couple hours yesterday but finally back up today and still decision pending… :-L
I know it is crazy, colleges these days are unpredictable
@knowledgeispower18 My D also got accepted to UC Davis last night, in Animal Biology. It was a reach for her–but she’s been thinking about Davis since she was about 10; she’s so happy and has already SIRed.
@pekkla so awesome congrats to her and you! Yes we feel that every UC is a stretch even though he’s got very good ECs, hes a 3.8 student who struggles with standardized tests (all tests). His dream school is Berkeley which he’s trying not to get much hope about but got supplement requests there, UCD and UCLA. UCD acceptance was a pleasant surprise and now he doesn’t know what to think at all. He’s got some pondering to do. Meanwhile… when’s SJSU coming out? So late this year…it’s almost making us question them as a good candidate of a school should he be accepted…
@knowledgeispower18 My D’s acceptance at UCD was proof that UCD considers more than the stats. Her GPA was above 4 but her SAT was below many of those who were rejected. Her essays were about overcoming hardship. She was adopted from China and her older brother, also adopted, is autistic. Most important, I think, is that the essays were not overwritten. They were not reviewed or edited by teachers or me, so it was her voice that came through.
Daughter just checked portal and it shows she was admitted.
@pdgaffer ya i was admitted does hers say “Admited by Self reported data -F”? anyone know what that means
