Hi.

What would my chances be to San Jose State University for Comp Sci and Software engineering be?

CSU GPA: 3.6

Also, around what sat/act score would I need? I take the SAT this Saturday.

This years EI threshold for SAT was 4300, so you would need a score of 1420 for Math and CR OR
EI threshold for ACT was 1021, so you would need a composite score of 30.

However, last years thresholds were 3550 and 1082, so it will depend upon the applicant pool each year. Strive for the highest possible score.

So would I have a good chance at Software Engineering if I do good on my SAT? @Gumbymom‌

I am really interested in their Software Engineering program that they have and I’m familiar with a few algorithms they teach over there :slight_smile:

Software Engineering’s EI threshold was 3600 vs 4300 for CS and 862 vs 1021 for CS. You would need a much lower SAT Math + CR score or ACT composite score. But like I said in the above post, EI thresholds change each year so it could go higher like in 2014. If your SAT score is not satisfactory, you should try the ACT. My son’s did better on the ACT vs. SAT.
