San Jose State University - Does this email mean it's a rejection?

Hi,

I just received this email from SJSU regarding admission. My status is still “Decision Pending,” but the email starts with, “Although you have not been offered admission to San Jose State University, students planning to attend ANY California State…” I can’t tell if this is a rejection email or if it’s just stating that they have not offered acceptance letters.

Thanks,

contact the school directly and ask

@tahaquraishi I received the email too. don’t worry. I got a message saying i was accepted a week ago. I20 was generated and i paid for shipment too. However yesterday i got this message. i think it was a mistake and they meant to send it to everyone. I’d try contacting them via live chat but weekend so i emailed them. so you should be fine. Also unrelated which major have you applied to?

@taarush I applied in the engineering field. Computer science to be exact. Mind if I ask you your GPA and SAT or ACT score? SJSU is one of my top schools and I’m very keen to get in.

@tahaquraishi: What is your eligibility index since SJSU admits by EI and major?

(CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math+CR) or (CSU GPA x 200) + (ACT comp x10)

@Gumbymom (3.42 * 800) + (1190) = 3,926 (new SAT)
I’m a local resident and live quite close to SJSU. I have lots of community service as well (Hour of Code, Volunteering at Hospital, etc.). Applying for Computer Science.

Based on your eligibility index, you will get into SJSU since you are local but probably not into CS. Last year’s EI threshold for CS was 4550 and the year before was 4300.

Local’s are given preference, but not sure how low of an EI will be needed. Software Engineering might be a feasible option.

Good luck and hopefully you have applied to several solid match and safety schools also.

@Gumbymom I’m sorry, I messed up. I double checked what I applied in.
Intended Major: Software Engineering (BS)
Emphasis/Concentration: Computer Science
Alternate major: Computer Science (BS)
Thanks for the positivity! Means a lot! :slight_smile: Also, do I meet the threshold now?

EDIT: Just checked, the threshold is 4050 and I’m quite close to it. Do I have to be in the threshold to get in?

Since you are local and near the threshold, your chances are much better for SE. Just remember the EI thresholds do fluctuate year to year depending upon the competitiveness of each in-coming Freshman class.

Good Luck.

I just got my acceptance today around 5pm when I checked the login website. In the messages it says I have been admitted based on my gpa/supplemental app and will need to verify everything after they mail my packet at the end of february.

@KK456 Yep, same here! Congrats!
