What are some Pros and cons of both? I don't think I can attend the preview day for UCSD because I'll be at the preview day for Santa Clara.

Well...if you are an instate student UCSD would be MUCH less expensive (unless you got terrific aid from SCU).

SCU is much smaller & more intimate than any UC. Of course, they're in different cities. I think you're much more likely to graduate in 4 years at SCU as most of their students do (as you're aware, much of the UC system has been affected by huge enrollments which make it much tougher to get the courses you want). Housing for 4 years is much likelier at SCU as well.
We were very impressed with SCU when we toured--I was a bit overwhelmed when we toured my alma mater, UCDavis (SO HUGE).

UCSD is nice in that it is set up in small colleges. Instead of one big spralling campus like UCLA. This keeps the classes smaller and the setting your in smaller. My son is at UCSC and the two schools are set up the same. You are assigned to a college, where you are sort of home based for your major. The dorms are like any other school, my son elected to move off campus because the school could not adequatly provide for his special diet, but also the dorms are noisy. Once your through fresh and soph years things settle down and you aren't as interested in the party noisy atmosphere. Living off campus was a great move for our son. His house is beautiful, kitchen has a view of Monterrey Bay and granite counters, hard wood floors, five bedrooms and three bathrooms, fireplace. He has a nicer house( 3000 sq feet) than we do and ours is nice but small.(1560 sq ft). Depending on your major you could be there for 5 years. You could pick up classes in the summer sessions too to help with that.

i recommend ucsd over santa clara.
santa clara is easier, but not as respected as ucsd.
ucsd also alot cheaper. i live in santa clara and its great weather and a really nice campus but it comes witha price, a big price...25k+ tuition!

What field are you interested in? I know there are great opportunities for engineers at SCU. SCU is also much more religous than UCSD. They're totally different schools & you should visit to get a feel for both in making your choice, ideally.
