Santa Clara University EA class of 2022!

Accepted to Leavey
4.0 UW/ 4.3 W
1510 SAT (790 M, 720 RW)

Accepted! BS psychology, 3.8 gpa and 29 ACT

Accepted to Leavey (Finance) w/ Provost
3.97 UW / 4.69
35 ACT

Accepted EA to College of Arts & Sciences

From wealthy CT suburb right outside NYC

GPA: 3.64 UW / 4.61 W (barely top 10% of 500+ class, took most rigorous courses available, hence higher weighted)

ACT: 32 (10/2017) 32E, 30M, 31R, 36S, 10W

SAT II: Math II 730, Chemistry 780

AP’s: Human Geo (3), Stat (5), Chem (5), US History (5), English Lang (5), currently taking BC Calc, English Lit, & Psych

Strengths: All test scores & weighted GPA, I had a lot of extracurriculars and really personal essays about health issues (primarily struggling w/ ADHD & a concussion/PTSD that came with all of it) and why I wanted to continue studying/major in Chemistry, and I know all of my rec letters, especially from my chem teacher were good.

Weaknesses: Although it may not appear, unlike other applicants with good stats who post on here as if they’re awful despite being in the top 5% of the country (I never go on these forums), I truly wasn’t confident in my apps. I dropped AP Physics 1 a few weeks ago for a study hall (I already had one to begin with and dropped my only science w/ an intended science major, ouch) & my GPA wasn’t amazing, my UW didn’t make the top 10% and decreased a little every year, and I also got a B- in AP Chem (my worst grade, once again, in my intended major).

For anyone that got deferred or rejected, just know statistically speaking, this should’ve been a safety for me I guess, but I truly was very unsure as to what my decision would be. All of this stuff comes down to weird factors we don’t always know about and sometimes it is just pure luck. Best of luck with everyone’s other apps & congrats to everyone that got in!

Was anyone able to read the letter? I know I got accepted, but it wouldn’t let me read the actual letter

have you enabled pop ups? I couldn’t view mine until I allowed pop ups and then it opened in a new tab @chiapet9

I have not… how do I do that? lol

I just got it. Thank you!!

My son was accepted. Huge relief!

No sign of merit aid unless another email comes before December.

We weren’t sure whether he’d get in with all his B’s. He took the most rigorous math and science classes offered at his school, but shy’ed away from rigorous history and English classes.

DS accepted EA to Leavey Business school w/3.7/4.5w & 34 ACT.

Deferred- 3.5 UW; 32 ACT, Full IB with all A’s and a few B’s but think a couple of C’s from 9th and 10th grade might have brought me down.

My daughter was accepted with $21K need based scholarship. It says it’s renewable for 12 consecutive quarters but the award letter is only for 2019. Does anyone know if she is guaranteed this amount each year or does she need to apply each year and see if she gets an award? Will make or break if she can attend!

Congrats to your daughter! My daughter goes to SCU. If it says it’s renewable for 12 consecutive quarters, then it wil be good for all four years. Also, if she goes to SCU, when you get the bill they usually charge you the whole amount and then they subtract out the aid later. You don’t have to pay it, but it’s a confusing way to do it.

got in with 24k per semester of aid!

they offered me a package for winter 2019, what does that mean?

thanks for the info on renewable. That’s definitely an important piece of info.

My daughter got her first acceptance today: LAS
~$24K combo SCU dean and incentive grant
(I thought she applied to engineering)

NorCal public school
Gpa (u) 3.92. Gpa (w) 4.3
SAT 1520. SAT 2 Math 780. Physics <700
At least one great LOR from calc teacher
Calc 3 at local CC, took final today and no idea how she did. It wasn’t easy.
3 year summer lifeguard Job.
4 year HS Water Polo and Swim team
6 year volunteering at NCL; NHS
Father SCU grad school alum (if that means anything, they did mention it)

Applying to Six UCs, CP SLO, USC, Mich, Purdue, LMU, NE, WashU

I have no idea where she wants to go. I think SCU has great Silicon Valley connections for engineering but wonder about LAS. She wants computer science but I don’t know about LAS reputation for SCU. Also, she wouldn’t get much hardware should she decide she wanted to try that later.

Guess we’ll wait and see what else comes but it’s nice to get at least one acceptance in.
