<p>I am looking to study Economics at either business school and also study Chinese. I am contemplating whether or not to minor in engineering or math if it is possible. I am from the East Coast, and during my undergrad years I want to live in a small city where the focus is mostly on campus. After graduation I want to live in a major city mostly on the East Coast like DC, NYC, Boston, Miami, or maybe Chicago. I've never been to California but it seems awesome. Sports is a plus for me, and I would be guaranteed a spot at Case Western on the team, but would have to try out at Santa Clara. I would like to join a fraternity.</p>

Student Body: Santa Clara wins. (On a board I heard that kids at Case Western were self proclaimed nerds and geeks. I was more of the smart jock in high school and idk if I would fit in at Case. </p>
<p>Right now it all seems like Santa Clara is the right choice. I just don't know about the name recognition since as of today I would like to work on the East Coast or Chicago, but then again, I might want to live in Cali. I am not sure how much Santa Clara would help me get a top job on the East Coast. I also want to go to grad school and Case Western has better placement for medical and MBA's such as the Ivy's, etc. I live in NYC but go to a top boarding school of mostly rich white students, so I am use to being a minority latino, and most of my friends are from my boarding school. So adjusting socially won't be a big deal.</p>
<p>Both schoos gave me about the same amount of money.</p>
<p>Another think that I am worried about is that it will be much more easier for me and my wallet to travel from cleveland to NYC as opposed to SanFran to NYC. </p>
<p>So I am basically asking how well does Santa Clara do for job placement on the east coast and how does it stack up in prestige to other schools specifically Case Western?</p>
<p>I know you mentioned that you would like to major in Econ, but then you mentioned Chinese (cultures? Mandarin, Cantonese?), then the health sciences.<br>
I can tell you that for Econ, Santa Clara and Case are equivalent. The Bay Area in general would give you a wonderful opportunity to learn Chinese culture were you to attend Stanford, or Berkeley, but not the case with Santa Clara, though many terrific Asian cultures are represented in the student body. Case is decidedly superior in grad school preparedness in life sciences and specifically pre-health. Santa Clara is WOE-fully lacking in these attributes.<br>
You will have the opportunity to join a healthy Greek system at Case. Santa Clara i don’t believe has greek life.<br>
Look, i love the Santa Clara campus–it is a mini Stanford–been on the campus a few dozen times. And it is a Jesuit school so it is recognized everywhere. But don’t think for a moment that the student body at Case is any less vibrant than at Santa Clara. Case student body is actually much more diverse than Santa Clara, and i don’t mean in ethnic background which fluctuates both places–i mean in scholarly interest of the students and in your opportunities. <p>Given that you want to live on the East Coast after school, I would say that Case Western is a better fit. Given that you want to study business, why would you want to go to Cleveland?</p>
<p>It sounds like you could be at home with the things about SCU that usually cause hesitation, the business school is top-notch (as they go), the engineering and math departments are gems, and the Silicon Valley beats Cleveland any day for business culture.</p>
<p>You’ll have to pardon my bias, too, but Santa Clarans are pretty well-rounded people. We’re working on becoming a more selective, more diverse school. </p>

<p>Everything right now seems to be pointing at Santa Clara. These two posts are so opposite I don’t know what to do. It is deffinetly clear that in terms of where I would be happier for four years, Santa Clara without a doubt, but in terms of the four years after graduation and pre MBA I feel like Case would be a better fit. This is sort of ridiculos.
The question is where I want to be happier:
Santa Clara for better 18 years-22 years</p>

<p>Case Western for bettwe 22-26 years. lol</p>
<p>If SCU is really where you want to be and you excel at SCU–you can still write your ticket to where you want to go in life after college. Sounds like both colleges are great choices for you, but don’t get too stuck on thinking it is the college itself that will open doors for you, it is what <em>you</em> do while you are at the college that will open up the doors.</p>
