Santa Fe University of Art and Design

Is anyone familiar with this school and their programs and if so, would you be willing to provide some insights? Was this the school that had financial issues and was about to close or am I confusing it with another school? Any information appreciated. Thanks.

D talked to a university in New Mexico at a visual arts college day, but I think it might have been U of New Mexico. Program looked good from the outside anyway.

I cant give you any real insight on the school in it’s current state, but you are thinking of the same school. They changed their name after all the financial turmoil. I think it’s all stabilised and over now though.

Plus 1 on the U of New Mexico comment.

Pianomom12, have you guys looked into the U of NM? Very good art department (excellent photography) and a solid school.

Yes, Santa Fe University of Art and Design used to be called the College of Santa Fe. This is the same school that had big financial issues and nearly closed until the state and city governments stepped in to help. You can find a brief history of the problems here:
[College of Santa Fe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Santa Fe University of Art and Design - Wikipedia)

My nephew attended College of Santa Fe as a film major for 3 semesters back in the early 2000’s. He was very impressed with the school’s production facilities and the small size of the college made it easy to develop close relationships with faculty members, but he eventually decided that the arts were not what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. So he had to transfer to another school (his in-state university) to study psychology/cognitive science.

we are looking into this school along with california arts institute. My son had his heart set on berklee but he did not get in. can anyone tell me about the contemporary music program at santa fe? The admissions people have been incredible responsive and helpful.
