Santa Monica or Orange Coast, or Pasadena

Which would be best for me if I want to successfully transfer to UCLA? Are they in good communities? What are the general deadlines for fall 2011?

study and work hard.
Yes.
You want to go to UCLA but can’t figure this out on your own!?!??!
Hint: SMC.edu, OCC.edu, Pasadena.edu…Home page…Academic Deadlines. Idiot proof.

I have not attended any of these, but I am generally familiar with each campus. I think Santa Monica and PCC have the better reputations and since it is relatively close to UCLA I would not be surprised to find out that Santa Monica sends the most students to UCLA. As to area, I personally would prefer Santa Monica to the other two.

Thanks. Among the top CCCs, are there any good CCCs in nice wealthy communities? And what are some feeder schools to USC?

i believe the only feeder schools to usc are certain programs in high school.

Moreover, you cant go wrong with smc or pcc. Having went to both, i can say that they are both solid CC’s, you will get professors at both that concurrently teach at ucla and other uc’s and csu’s. They both have TAG and TAP so that is not an issue. I would say the deciding factor for you should be location. How close are you to each school? Decide from that. Also, around SMC parking and traffic is much more troublesome than pcc. Hope ive helped, and goodluck.

@jupiter OCC is 5 minutes away from Newport Beach

lol, OCC is in the “ghetto.”

Go to my CCC, Saddleback College. In the heart of all the wealthy communities in southern orange county. It’s pretty common to see students driving $35,000-$40,000 entry level luxury cars. You’ll see almost everything from your basic Honda civic to even an Audi R8 (i’ve only seen once)

SMC has a nice main campus, including a few small buildings in the surrounding area. Scholars program is great. Lots of online courses. I completed most of my courses at SMC and a few at West LA.

If you want to live in Orange County go to OCC not only for the highest transfer rates to different UCs but it also has the most eye candy. If you want to live in LA then you can’t go wrong with either Pasadena or SMC. Either way, it is up to YOU on whether or not you succeed as any of those 3 schools will give you the resources you need.

Yeah occ might be in the ghetto but it’s a five minute drive from the beach, it’s not like you dorm for ccc
Plus he said somewhere a rich community, no offense but I wouldn’t wanna live in the inland shwag of the saddleback area

SMC is across the street from the ghetto of Santa Monica

I attended Irvine Valley College for a semester. It is a medium-sized community college in Irvine, one of the richest cities in the OC. They have pretty good faculty and student resources. I would recommend it if you want to be in a nice area.

Also, Santa Monica College is hugely overcrowded and overrated. If you have a choice, go to a smaller CC.

OCC all the way. Think about how many cc’s there are in LA…LACC SMC PCC…?? How many people live in LA?! OC has a ton of community college’s when compared to its population. IVC, OCC, Saddleback, GWC, Coastline, Santa Ana, etc.

You need good grades and an impressive application to transfer (it all depends on you—not so much the school)

every CC has its good and bad teachers

I personally take traffic/hectic parking lots/and over crowding into consideration. That’s just me though.

Oh and throw ELAC into the list of LA schools.

PCC hands down.

btw, is it necessary to apply to 2 community colleges? one is a match and the other is a safety, or is it that I can get in automatically if i apply?

@mcuevas there’s LACC, ELAC, SMC, PCC, GCC, LATTC, LASC, LAHC, WLAC, Valley College, Mission, and Pierce College =]

@justin
I remember you from the Ucla 2011 transfer thread…
I’m active duty military

Good luck!

haha and well I stand corrected. Honestly I grew up in LA, attended its public schools-I love the city. I tried smc and it seemed too crowded for me.

Yah, SMC sux – mainly because everyone from Downtown, Koreatown, South Central, and even East LA drives 24372483 hours to get there for some unknown reason…instead of just going to their local CC.
