I recently did not meet SAP requirements and am ineligible for receiving aid for this coming fall quarter. I got a 1.9 GPA fall quarter, then a 2.3 in winter, and a 1.5 in spring putting my GPA at a 1.9 cumulative. I attend UCR and sent my appeal yet I am uncertain that my appeal will get approved because I don't have any extenuating circumstances. I stated in my appeal that I had continuous problems in my dorm regarding my RA and housing administration. My dorm situation had a lot of tension due to a lot of alleged accusations in violating housing regulations. My last quarter was unwelcoming due to the consent threats by housing admin on my status based on unreasonable proof. Yet I stated in my appeal that I do not use this housing ordeal as an excuse, I stated that I was at fault for putting myself in the midst of drama and distraction. I made many mistakes this year and one being that I took a difficult course in spring without counselors approval, but mainly in did not make SAP because I had poor time management with my courses and did not utilize campus resources. I stated that I am already on academic probation and I have not only a required plan but a personal plan in meeting requirements. I stated that I am going to utilize campus resources such as tutoring, my department workshops, take three classes and equally distribute time with an organized schedule that my counselor signed off on. I emphasized that I have 80 units entering my second year. I am uncertain that my appeal is not a strong case for approval, I have talked many counselors, upper class men, and other offices and my chances and feed back vary. I am scared that my case is not strong enough because of the extenuating circumstances because my family and I are quite dependent on my financial aid.

No one here can say. You have already submitted your papers so you just have to sit tight now.

Start on a Plan B, while you await word on your appeal. Any ideas for that?

My plan B is that I have saved up money from working throughout the summer, it helps cover half of my tuition but the other half I going to have to get some type of loan. I know that I cannot get any loan for the fed gov. I also know that when I make up my gpa I can get back my aid, but this quarter I am going to be crippled by tuition and rent. I plan on applying for jobs asap, but it will significantly help if I get my aid reinstated because my parents nor I am in the position of paying for this quarter. I know that its not impossible is just that I have to work extra hard for both my grades and cash.

did you end up getting your aid reinstated?
